OK, I'm sick of looking at the kids' contest section and seeing contests about fluffy-duffy, babyish things. People aged 8 - 16, give me something pure, dazzling and heartfelt! Release my imagination with beautiful imagery and description! Here's a few ground rules, though:
1. Follow all AP rules - NO EXCEPTION.
2. No erotica, please.
3. Only enter if you are aged 8 - 16.
4. Dirty pretty is allowed, but make it short. I don't want an epic length thing with loads of weird symbols flying about!
5. Lines ranging from 8 lines to 35. No epics, please.
6. Prewrites allowed, but make sure they fit the prompt/s, which are stated below:
Right, guys, as most contests do, there are prompt(s). You have a choice of prompt here, so pick wisely. And for God's sake, please don't pick a prompt and write something desperately similar to another entry! Obviously, you can have the same prompt, but I don't want a virtual copy of an original poem.
Prompts are:
1. Climbing some sort of mountain - literal or figurative; ie. you're attempting to bloom a blissful romance with someone (figurative) or you're trying to conquer Mount Everest (literal).
2. Feeling unwelcome, unwanted and isolated.
3. Anticipation of some kind - eg, Christmas excitement.
4. The loss of somebody you were very close to.
5. Comfort eating.
6. Confronting your worst fear(s) for the greater good.
Soooo, there you go!
Please enter!!! I'll give you six billion boxes of cookies!
I know it's not big points but it's participating that matters, surely? *Appeals to your soft side* Haha, lol. Enter please! And good luck!

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on December 24, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 400
- Final notes: Hi! Well, guys. I'm sorry the contest closed a little early! Well, I realise it's common courtesy to comment on all the poems, but I sincerely haven't had time. My mum works three jobs, two part time and one full, and it's kinda hectic, and even more so around Christmas. I have commented a few, though!
So, anyways. I found poems of a pretty high standard in this contest - very deep, powerful and meaningful. Hence, congratulations to the winners, especially the gold trophy winner, whom I thought to be outstanding! Well, anyway. There WERE a few grammar mistakes dotted about in some of those poems, and whilst they were deep and meaningful, you have to take that on board. Well, I'm just being honest!
I'd say you've done our generation proud - yes, all of you! Give yourselves a pat on the back! OK ... that sounds geeky.
Well, congratulations to the winners! And thanks to everyone for entering. xxxx
