Options & Options (Lots, being added to)

Background by Errant Panther

Well hello and welcome to another contest of mine. This time I'm using options, to help spark your muses. I hope you all can find something that will inspire you to write something magnificent. Several options, some popular, some not so. Firstly, I will go to the rules so you know what you have to stick to, then to the options. By the way, points and number of trophies will likely increase :]

.xRulesx.

1. Please label entries correctly. I don't want anything inappropriate going to the younger poets or those whom don't wish to view such material.

2. Dark, erotic, dirty pretty is all allowed. Just please stick to the first rule and you wont be DQ'd.

3. Use legible backgrounds - no green on blue. If you are going to add pictures to your entry, please make sure they are relevant to your poem.

4. Prose and lyrics are also allowed in this contest.

5. Put option chosen in your AN. This helps me and those whom read your piece to understand where you got your inspiration from.
6. Use spell checker. I don't want to have to get a slang interpreter or any form of illiterate language training, to understand your piece.

7. HAve fun. The most important rule of all

~ O p t i o n s ~

1. Everyone always goes on about turning polite songs and children's songs into 'dirty' lyrics or verses. But, I want you to do the opposite. Take  dirty song like the 'Whisper Song' or one of Kevin Bloody Wilson's songs and make them polite. This should be a nice and enlightening experience for you.

2. Use one of these phrases as a prompt--

a. then the angels sung to me in perfect harmony

b. you make the birds sing and the stars shine

c. I weeped into the lonely winds

d. frantically searching for someone who cares

e. my mother always told me not to play with boys hearts

f. maybe I'll forget that our paths ever met

g. you'll never know what haunts me whilst I sleep

3. Use one of these titles as the title of ypur poem--
a. Ashes & Angels

b. Rainbow Memories

c. Baby, I Cheated

d. Fragmented Forevers

e. End of the Line

f. Nicotine & Kerosene

g. Kissing Away The Tears

4. Quotes. Gain inspiration from one of these quotes.--

The hardest thing in life is to know which bridge to cross and which to burn.

    David Russell

It is better to risk saving a guilty person than to condemn an innocent one.

    Voltaire

To love at all is to be vulnerable.

    C. S. Lewis

5. Write a line about each year of your life. So for example, if you are 16 years old, you write 16 lines and each line represents a year of your life.

6. Use some lyrics from one of your favourite songs and gain inspiration from them. Please put the lyrics in your authors comments box.

7. "There's something about the way you're hands fit into mine, that makes the world fit into place." A quote of mine. Gain inspiration from it.

8. Compose a poem with one of the following.

a. 11 syllables for 11 lines

b. a 75 word or less piece, with 7, 7 lettered words in.

c. A poem with 2,6,8,8,8,6,2 syllables and a rhyme scheme of abbcabb.
d. a poem with syllable counts 2, 6, 6, 4, 6, 8, 4, 4, 2 and the 2 syllables have to be adjectives.

9. I want a poem that involves these sets of things together. Those in 'a' section should all be involved, though not as a word bank, but as a topic or a prompt within the piece.

a. a parachute, plumber, cucumber

b. belly dancer, freeway, bracelet

c. ruby, wedding, shotgun

d. rainforest, fever, mannequin

e. bath, money, massage

10. Tell me something within 25 words or less. But I don't want just one, I want several in one entry. Each new 'verse' adds an extra 25 words, so second part is 50 and 75 for third and so on. This doesn't have to be precise, as long as close to the mark, within 5 words, shall we say.  I want them somehow to connect, though they don't have to be direct. For example, first 25 could be on lost love, second on found love and third on broken love.

Okay, I think that's enough options for everyone. Actually move on with the contest now, no need for more editing. Watch space anyway though, incase rules are added.

Will be adding options later (:

xoxo
