Geez, I just realized how long that title is. Oh well, those of you who entered my first contest know that I strive for something different (or those of you who just looked and were overwhelmed by it all)... Well, I'm back with another contest, trying to one-up myself... or at least tie. You know how it is.
I know I write a lot, but it would do you well to read all I have to say. I'm sorry if I bore you. You could always skip down to the options to see if what I have to say is even worth it, but be sure to read it all before entering.
As with my last contest, I have 10 options to choose from, and some of those have options within themselves. Yes, I have been planning this since the booming success of my first contest, and I swore I wouldn't open this one until I judged the first one, but... I am only waiting for someone to finish a poem, and that someone has till tomorrow. So I'm opening this one! I will probably add more, since this one is kind of empty compared to my last one. You may see some familiar options later on if you saw my last contest.
First off, the rules. And please be sure to read all of this; I know it's boring, but it's for my own good... I mean... Your own good
No:
~cussing
~erotica
~chat speak/l33+ 5p3@k or whatever it is lol (game talk)
~special writing (italics, bold, underline, StIcKy CaPs) [italics/bold can be used if used in the WHOLE piece, not just certain words... this is mainly for the word banks.]
~put your screen name in the author notes in case I need to send you a message. Also, since I'm allowing more than one entry, I'd like to know who put more than one, but as I said in my last contest, if you're that good, you may win more than once (not likely, though) (this will also help with deciding trophies between poems I highly enjoy)
~Let the background add to the poem if possible, but I want to be able to read it, and please no bright backgrounds/fonts, because they hurt my eyes.
~I thought about having an unlimited amount of entries, but it doesn't usually fill up that fast (well, didn't last time), so I'm limiting 25. If it gets filled up, and you can't enter, message me, and I will allow you to enter. But my goal is 25, and I won't close until I get it
~This probably goes without saying, but please put the option in the author notes (and not just the number. Please spell it out, so I don't have to go back and look.)
~This is one you probably don't get all the time, but could you please put the option in the preview as well? This way, if I'm really in the mood to see something in particular, I can just look at the preview. I appreciate it. (It is a rule)
If you can't pick an option, I would still love to have you enter. Message me telling me you can't decide along with what you know you DON'T want to do (so you don't get stuck with something you just can't write for or whatever), and I'll pick something for you.
I don't know why people have to be specific about left align/center align. Some poems are just meant to be centered and others meant to be left on the side. To me, it doesn't take away from the reading but adds to it instead. Whatever form you wish to do; whatever part of the page you wish it to be on, it is your creation--write it the way your muse is calling you to. PLEASE!
~~~~So I guess it's time for the options, eh?~~~~
1) As with my previous contest, the first option will be to write for the picture that comes with this contest.
2) A few titles to get you started (in other words, I may add more once I close my other contest)
[]tomorrow's wishes
[]rabid concept
[]still dreaming
[]still remembering
[]against the wall
[]unseen beauty
[]blond moment
[]the cat's meow
3) Finish the poem (2 options)
Extra Rule: must use what I have as part of the poem; preferably the beginning.
[]dear flower, why must you wilt so?
do you not know the sun shines for you today?
[]There's a certain beauty
Unseen by the naked eye
It is only felt
[]I wish I could take you hand
And make the pain go away
To soothe the pain you may feel
I don't know why you look so down
But know I will always be here for you
4) Phrases. I will add more eventually; probably after closing my other contest.
[] Oh how I have longed for your tongue to dance with mine
[] It's technically tomorrow
[] You cannot argue what you know is true
[] Am I just walking around merely existing? Is this really just a dream? And will my dreams come true ever?
[] I want to hold your hand, though your hand is poison.
[] There is power in the name "Jesus"
5) Prompt: Be careful of looking at broken mirror fragments; they do not show the whole picture
6) Prompt: Love remains radiant throughout the darkness
7) Prompt: Keys click, and it seems to be the only sound I hear other than your silent breathing beside me.
8) Word Bank! (everybody loves these, right?)
Extra Rule: Must use at least 5, and it better flow!
Extra Rule: Here's a catch--you cannot change the word in any way.
Extra Rule: Please put the words used in the author notes (don't need them in the preview
[] pineapple..................[] tomorrow..................[] spaces
[] groovy..................... [] mourning..................[] nothing
[] hail........................ [] doorframe.................[] empty
[] beyond.................. [] punching..................[] hurting
[] thinking.................. [] creative.................. [] hunting
9) Pick a number b/w 1-15 or a letter between A-H, reserve, leave either a link to your page or your SN in the AN, and I will message you with your prompt.
10) Another picture! Unfortunately, it has to be a link. I may add more.
So... this contest is going to be a really long one, probably, because it's open over the month of winter break I have. During a huge LAN party shortly before New Year's, I may check it once in a while, but not sure how often, and it probably won't be judged.
This contest was fun.
It will be very hard to judge because there were so many options and forms we could use. Thanks for the challenge and good luck to all who tried to accomplish the task! The Shaker -
