Allpoetry Kids Christmas Bash 2008 (win a gold membership)

This year I will be hosting a Childrens contest as well as my regular Christmas Bash, the Christmas bash is open to all ages as well, but will be using complicated forms so in order to give the kids just as much fun, I am doing a simpler form contest for them.

If you are over 17 and wish to enter my Christmas Bash contest or would like to try your hand at a more complicated form you can enter this one.

As an added bonus Kevin has generously donated a Gold membership the the top winner of the contest.

This contest is for 17 and under.

This contest will close December 25

There are a maximum of two entries per person.

If you make backgrounds you can include one

This contest will be open until December 25th.

This will be a word bank form contest. (this means that you will choose from a list of forms and use at least 5 words from the word bank in your poem.

The forms you can choose from are:

Acrostic:

Acrostics are a very simple form to learn to write and lot of fun with it too. I am sure many of you have dabbled in acrostics at one time or the other. The simplest way to start would be starting with your name. Write the letters in your name in a vertical line

S
M
I
T
H
A

Now think of various words that begin with these letters which suit you well. IT is as simple as that

S - Sensible
M - Muddled
I - Intelligent (?)
T - Trustworthy
H – Happy J
A - Adamant, Argumentative

Oh I am sure my mother can supply a whole list of words!

See its simple. As a child I used to love to make up acrostics to madden or irritate people. I came up with this one for SMART when my brother used to call himself that

S - Stupid
M – Men
A - Analyzing
R - Rubbish
T – Topics

Acrostics on many words are a popular way to have a good laugh at party time and I love to make up acrostics to pass the time. I pick any word and write an acrostic on it. It gets addicting after a while. I like to pick even a whole sentence that makes a statement and write an acrostic out of it.

Clerihew:
Clerihews have just a few simple rules:

They are four lines long.
The first and second lines rhyme with each other, and the third and fourth lines rhyme with each other.
The first line names a person, and the second line ends with something that rhymes with the name of the person.
A clerihew should be funny.
