Write a poem between 15 and 60 words in the form of a thought.
Only 10 slots available.
*UPDATE*
"A thought" is NOT meant to be the prompt. Below are a few definitions to help you understand what I want to read.
Thought-
- meditation, contemplation, or recollection
- a single act or product of thinking; idea or notion
- the act or process of thinking; mental activity
I want poetry that is a meditation, or recollection. I want it to move like a thought moves, be random like a thought and I do NOT want it to be written in beautiful and complicated ways. Thoughts are simple. Our minds think in a simple language. I want complex ideas and notions, but not complex language.
This contest is free verse only.
If you would like a shot at wining, please read and do the following
Do not use profanity, or at least use it very little.
I do not want any erotic or adult content.
I am not a fan of "love" poetry or "religious"poetry... you have been warned.
Please write neatly and spell correctly.
P.S. I know a lot of judges say they are not easily impressed, but I have to say it. I am very hard to impress. I have been on allpoetry for about a year and a half and I only have seven favorites to date.
Also, a few hints, I do not like when poets complicate their ideas with too many adjectives and hard to pronounce words. The easiest way to impress me, is to remain simple in writing and complex in thought
thank you.
There is no prompt.
Here is an example if you need one
"I sit isolated in a busy diner.
Angry at you. Myself.
I'm given stale coffee by a server with a one syllable name.
Free refills...guess they're worth what you pay for them.
At least it's hot; but not as hot as my precarious disposition.
Deep in thought.
Darkness turns to dawn as I drift. Travel.
Much as the hobo's rickety boxcar journey
from nothing to nowhere.
All the while in a booth, under a light
bright enough to interrogate."
This is an exerp from the poem "I Guess We're not Friends any More" by one of my AP favorites http://allpoetry.com/bigperm
