Yay! My first contest!
It's going to be pretty simple, since this is my first time and all. I just want you to write a poem, based on one of the following pictures (All were taken from DeviantArt, so if there's any issues, let me know):
http://fc90.deviantart.com/fs31/f/2008/190/e/d/rays_of_reflection_by_ssilence.jpg

http://emsvangoth.deviantart.com/art/time-stops-39812979
Rules:
1. No prewrites, because I like when people are original. Actually look at the pictures and choose one that inspires you. Then write about it.
2. Try to make it good. I understand this is a given, but I really don't want to read poems just describing a happy scene on a happy day in a happy world. I want to feel and be shown.
3. You can use either free verse or rhyme. However, if you choose the latter, make sure it is not over the top. I personally am not fond of rhyming poems (unless it's a sonnet or something classic) ; however, if it is your style, please give it a go. I will probably just read it more critically - which actually good be good for you if you pull it off!
4. Subject matter can be anything as long as you can somehow relate it to the picture you choose. But don't make it too much of a stretch. For example... "Well, there was red in the picture of a Valentine's Day Teddy Bear, so it reminded me of Sweeney Todd. So I wrote a poem about his inner anguish." = No.
5. Oh yeah! Tell me which picture you used
That's basically it. Sorry for the low amount of points
But if I ever get anymore, I promise I will make more fun contests with cooler prompts! I wasn't feeling very creative at the moment, but in the future I promise I will be. But, I digress...Good luck everyone!!
PS Thanks to http://allpoetry.com/Scyphon and http://allpoetry.com/righteousme for donating points
So now everyone can win something!

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on December 19, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 700, Silver: 400, Bronze: 200, Honorable mention: 3 people
- Final notes: Hello everyone. Sorry for the short delay, but I kinda moved back to the US during the weekend... yay for being home (where I have dial-up... not so "yay", but ok)! Anyways... as for the contest... Some entries, a bit disappointing. Some were pretty good. I hope you are happy with the results, because I tried to judge fairly based on the relation of the poem to the picture, as well as just the general strength of the poem overall. I think the winners are the people who should have won. Other than that, thanks for entering, and maybe look out for a contest from me in the future!
