Spirituality Challenge

I am going to try again to do a contest. The first one I did I found very hard to judge, but this idea has been keeping me up at night. So I figure I might as well try again. If I still find it too hard to chose between entrants well I'll find something else to do with my points.

Why you ask is this a challenge? Because I want you to show me your spiritual side without evoking the name of your god(s)/goddess(es). I don't want to read about who or what you faith is I want to read about how you faith drives you, how it inspires you, how it saved you.

I want to feel your spirtuality but I don't want to be preached to. I have my beliefs and they do not include going to church or praying every day.

Please do not include what faith you are until after the contest has ended and I have judged. I am not sure that I have any biases based on faith but I don't want to discover part way through that I am favouring one paticular faith that would not be fair.

Rules

1) 1) I have an eye condition that makes it very hard for me to read things that a lumped together. If you have long sentences use spaces. If you write prose break it up every few  lines or I am will have to DQ you cause I won't read it properly.
1.5) Use easy to read and plain backgrounds, again if I am not able to read it I cannot judge and I must remove it

2) Keep it tasteful and respect others

    * no errotica or adult

    * do not bash another poets beliefs

    * be postive in your messages

3) Grammar and spelling matter, no one is perfect but try your very best.

4) I am obsessive compulsive about everything looking a certain way. Poetry should be fluid and flowing.
Do not use net speak, sticky caps, unnecessary symbols and punctuation, strange spacing

I will allow pre-writes if you message me and have something that fits. I know it seems silly but I want pieces which really fit. I will try to accomadate as best I can.

So now that you know the rules, write me some spirtuatliy. I do no want to see any names of any gods, godesses, dieties, or religons.Try to keep the words "God" "He" and "Him" in lower case.

If you want to know my beleifs please ask me after you have entred. I don't want to bias the entries to fit my beleifs, just as I don't want beliefs which are not mine to bias my judgment

Best of luck to everyone

Happy writings I hope you are up to this challange

Hopefully this will inspire me to finish a piece I am looking to perfect

I will try my best to judge quickly and fairly

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on November 29, 2008
  • Rewards: Gold: 400, Silver: 300, Bronze: 200, Honorable mention: 5 people
  • Final notes:
thank you to everyone who entered this contest. you understood what i was looking for perfectly, and penned your faith accordingly. each and every one of you made me feel your faith (whatever it may be) without preaching at me, spiritual poems are beautiful to me when they are not seeping with preaching.

if you are wondering what religion i practice, the answer is none. however, there are three things which make up my spiritual knowledge; my paternal family are french-catholic (my father was kicked out of the church in his teens), i have strong love for pagan earth worshiping ancient religions, and i have read the koran and think that it's shame how governments have made it into book of hatred. that is what makes up what i believe to be spirituality.

this contest was so hard for me to judge, but i have found some amazing poetry which i love. i am glad no one needed to be disqualified, i enjoyed reading everything, but i can only chose so many winners.

    bless you all,
    dusty
