". . .and it's one more beer, and I don't hear you anymore. . . .we've all gone crazy lately. . ."

When I think of those east end lights, muggy nights
The curtains drawn in the little room downstairs
Prima donna Lord you really should have been there
Sitting like a princess perched in her electric chair
And it's one more beer and I don't hear you anymore
We've all gone crazy lately
My friends out there rolling 'round the basement floor

And someone saved my life tonight sugar bear
You almost had your hooks in me didn't you dear
You nearly had me roped and tied
Altar-bound, hypnotized
Sweet freedom whispered in my ear
You're a butterfly
And butterflies are free to fly
Fly away, high away, bye bye

I never realized the passing hours of evening showers
A slip noose hanging in my darkest dreams
I'm strangled by your haunted social scene
Just a pawn out-played by a dominating queen
It's four o'clock in the morning
Dammit listen to me good
I'm sleeping with myself tonight
Saved in time, thank God my music's still alive

And I would have walked head on into the deep end of the river
Clinging to your stocks and bonds
Paying your h.p. demands forever

They're coming in the morning with a truck to take me home

So save your strength and run the field you play alone
Someone saved my life tonight. . .

OKay, as with the other contest, take a thread of this song, and run with it. Bring me something that FITS this song {(would be nice} but I knw sometimes there's something else. I hold these contests for you, not me. Have fun with it,
Jin

PS. no bitching Larry, I did this for you. . .LOL

Under 100 lines, one week. No PW, NO LYRICS. I WANT POETIC interpretations, no stealing lyrics from Bernie Taupin, or Sir Elton.

GO!

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on November 25, 2008
  • Rewards: Gold: 899, Silver: 498, Bronze: 297, Honorable mention: 1 people
  • Final notes:
    I loved these entries.
Each of you brought something completely different, and meaningful.
I get accused many times of not providing prompts that allow you to use your brain.
    I disagree.
I post prompts that inspire something in me, not just pretty pictures, or lovely words from songs we all know.
Okay, I had a very hard time deciding this contest, as the entries hit me very deeply, and each in different ways. As the finalists sit, I think they all should get gold, and a hug, and a kiss on the cheek.
I appreciate your continuing support of these contests, and am always up for points donations to provide more .
(had to throw that in there too). .
I wish you all a happy Tuesday,
    Love,
    jin

    Thank-you, Thank-you, Thank-you, Thank-you!
It does feel great to be so appreciated and especially for a write that has my "signature" colours and emotion in it. Blue
