Hello once again fellow poets,
As many of you know, I suffered the death of my beautiful 5-week-old grand daughter in March of this year. I know she wasn’t here for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays last year but we were expecting her and that made the season a lot brighter for my family.
Now with Chloe gone and us still yearning for her, I’m starting to feel a bit down.
So what I would like for this contest are feel-good pieces that will keep my spirit up and make me look forward to the upcoming holiday season.
So the rules for this contest are quite simple and no one should have any trouble with them.
1. Only enter poems or stories that will make me smile when reading them. If you post a new piece and mention Chloe in it, that would be awesome but don’t feel you have to. If you want to know more about her, here is the link to a list of poems about her.
http://allpoetry.com/list/52523-Chloe-Lane
You do not have to read any of these if you don’t want to.
2. Religion is wonderful (after all, you can’t have Christmas without it) and I would love to read some.
3. Poems about snow and winter are great.
4. Thanksgiving poems, both about family and funny ones about turkeys.
5. Christmas, Christmas, Christmas. Did I say Christmas???
Santa, snowmen, decorations, gifts, secrets, surprises, etc………
Backgrounds would be great also!!!! Just remember to only post ones that you don’t mind me using.
6. In short, I want to read your amazing and happy pieces about these holidays and the peaceful feelings that surround their seasons.
I am giving out multiple awards for this so if you have a problem with someone winning more than one, then maybe this contest isn’t for you. If it doesn’t bother you, then I would love to read your work.
There is no limit on how many you post and pre-writes are encouraged, but please try to only post ones I haven’t commented on before.
I don’t have a clue as to how long I will leave this open. It could close tomorrow; it may stay open until Christmas. And I can’t promise that I’ll remember to give notice before closing either, so if you want to write something new, please do so as soon as you can.
Thanks so much for taking time to read and I hope to enjoy lots of wonderful poems and stories. Happy holidays to you and yours, Cathy Davis

Davisch, my heart goes out to you. I can't say I know exactly what you are going through but I do have some idea. I'm going to look for a prewrite you didn't see last year (that maybe hard). All the best to you and your family.

I can't thank you enough for this incredible Honor. I am so blessed to have grown up in times where family and holidays really meant something. The memories and the smells of all that food cooking, the sounds of laughter still echo in the halls of my mind. Thank you so very much for this heartfelt recognition.
