Hello, everyone!
I know I have been regretfully m.i.a. but I have returned and would LOVE to see some beautiful poetry from all you wonderful and talented folks. Thanks to some very generous poets**, there will be enough points for honourable mentions and the like. Of course, I shall comment fully on everyone's work.
I would enjoy seeing you write a poem regarding something you have never written about (i.e. if you've never written a tribute, go for option 3) as poetry is about expressing ourselves in new and challenging ways.
Also, non-prewrites will be weighted stronger than pre-writes. In other words... put your Muse to work!
Options (I truly believe that we owe many people in our lives thanks and appreciation for where they have gotten us and what they have done for us. So if you can make metaphors out of some of these options {such as personifying your mother as nature} I promise brownie points)
1) Autumn (or nature in general)
2) Horses, foxes, wolves, tigers, swans or hawks (or any other animal, just let me know)
3) A tribute to one (or more) of the poets* listed here (I LOVE poetry about these people

- Final notes: Hello everyone! What a long and intense contest... there are so many beautiful and evocative poems, which made judging quite difficult.
But each poem touched me, which is why you are ALL to receive points simply for entering and gracing me with their gorgeous pieces.

Now, for the trophy winners:
Yellowdogpoetry's "Legacy" ~ A beautiful and moving piece about one of the most important women in our lives - mothers. And his is very well loved and depicted in this moving poem.
greyhaime's "Warm Memories" ~ A touching piece with lovely imagery and a feeling of serenity (do read her other submission for LionessK "Pieces of You")
Night Hope's "A Certain Scribe I Know" ~ This poem, though about my husband, won the third place trophy for the beautiful language therein and the smooth, gentle rhythm that makes it so enjoyable.

Liadan, it is good to see you back on AP you wno't remember me - but I remember me, from a contest you ran, perhaps some two years ago ; of a sad nature, and where you and Dante wrote responding poems for each person that entered, which I found most touching.
