This is a contest to help us make creative header-images, as shown behind the AP logo on the front page of the site (http://allpoetry.com)
Here is one for example:
http://allpoetry.com/images/header-summer.jpg
Early bonus winner: We could sure use a halloween themed one for this week!
The author of each image that's chosen for use will get a 1 month gold membership for each image chosen.
My original vision was that we'd only have 4 per year, one for each season - but surprise me
I'd suggest some holiday-themed once, halloween, thanksgiving, christmas, valentines day, etc.
If you use artwork you find online, please at least try to contact the author for permission first.
May the best artist win!

Rules
- It needs to be *exactly* 860 x 213 pixels, and in the JPG format. The site isn't too happy about showing images that big as a post, so feel free to reduce it by a percentage.
- Be ready to email me a high-res copy of the image in PDF/100% jpg, along with your source art. If you win

- The allpoetry logo and navigation links will always be along the bottom (like it is now), so it should look good there - low contrast in the bottom and top areas is best.
The author of each image that's chosen for use will get a 1 month gold membership for each image chosen.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on November 7, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 200, Silver: 100, Bronze: 100
- Final notes: Thanks to everyone for their beautiful entries!
I'm going to be uploading the fall header made by cindy this afternoon! I've put posts by cindy, sharcu, justadutchie, and getsbetter into the finalists list, and each will get a month of gold membership per entry used, if and when it's actually adapted for site use.
How fun to have you all contribute to the beauty of the site. I commented on most but not all, sorry. Also, if you didn't see a view log from me, I viewed most using the 'print all' feature, which showed them all at once.
Go poetry, go poets!

This is exciting! I can't wait to see what everyone does
-
Wow! Great idea. Especially the seasonal/holiday concept. Best of luck!
-
Must this be graphic art or are photographic arts permitted?
-
-
I would think that as long as it meets the size, and is yours (or youhave permission), that any image could be used. I know I'm going to look through my images to see if any would be suitable to resize or crop for this.
-
The ones I made before were all photography-based, so whatever looks good!
-
-
oooh oooh lol, I got this one book marked .
-
Oh wow! This is awesome!! I will definitely enter this one!
-
if I had photoshop, I'd be in

Good luck, Kevin, nice idea for a contest. -
Cool
-
Are we only allowed to enter one, or may we enter more than one?
-
-
no limits, though try to keep it to only good ones hehe
-
-
Don't worry.
And thank you.
-
I entered a second time, (and I'm playing on entering just one more
) but when I entered the second time, my first entry does not show up on the contest page, but it shows that it's entered on the poem page? Help?
-
-
I had it set to 'only allow one per person', so it would have kicked out your old entry. Fixed now - could you add it again with 'add prewrite'?
-
-
Alright.
-
-
-
-
-
There is no limit to the number of entries, correct? :-)
--Tim -
Kevin
I think you have the allow only one entry per person checked off -
-
i use a mac and am not sure about the pdf thing but I'm trying anyway
-
-
It says now only one more entry before closing or 12 days- is the number of entries limited- if so perhaps multiple entries might be restricted fairer so people who may be taking time to produce something have a chance. I get mine under the wire, so I don't mind for me, just that it seem unfair that some people have 10 entries and someone may lose out because they do not log in today already and see this, or are composing their picture?
-
-
this must be meant for me; I have 14 or 15 entries. What does fairness have to do with anything? If Kevin doesn't like them they have no chance. I'll delete the ones I think are smarmy ... happy Now?
-
-
No, not particularly at you. I just notice that the list is full of 40 entries from only about 9 different names as . My happiness has nothing to do with it, and of course you ar right, fairness does not matter- I have my entry in, why should I care. Please do not remove your pictures on my account, my observation on the way the contest work was for the contest holder, who happen to be site owner, that such a thing could happen, not for any individual contestant. I tell you waht, if you like, I remove my entry, then there is extra spot for the one you could not get in.
-
But I don;t seem to work that way, as now there are 31 entries only and the contest is still closed- it does not reopen.
-
-
-
darn! I just made another really good one. It's desert dunes.
If you'd like to see it just to see it
-
Well, I found my files with the photos of Haworth Cemetery and the Bronte family graves taken on Samhain a few years ago, but alas, too late. Contest full up. Next year then. Maybe.
-
-
More space open. Go go go!
-
-
YAY ! Thanks- it was a pity not to be able see all the interest there is sure to be in this idea.
