My first contest :) Loads of Options, Allowing Pre-writes. Come in and see:D

Yay! I finally have enough points to start my first contest From being active on this site, I've learned that if I want to make my first contest successful, I should allow prewrites and yes, yes. Prewrites are allowed but AS LONG as they go well with the options provided. And new writes are encouraged! Come on people! Gimme something new! Wait till you see all those options
I don't want to go on and on. So let me just start noting down the options shall we? Lyrics prompt, song prompts, picture prompts, word prompts and some other stuff as well! So you see? You have loads to chose from

Options:

1.) Lyrics Prompt (Read these lyrics and be inspired to write)

a.] "Trade all your heroes in for ghosts, they're always the ones who love you most" - Manic Street Preachers - Your Love Alone is not enough.
b.] "You stole the sun from my heart" - Manic Street Preachers -  You stole the sun
c.] "Come feed the rain, 'cause I'm thirsty for your love dancing underneath the skies of lust. Feed the rain, 'cause without your love, my life aint nothing but this carnival of rust" - Poets of the Fall - Carnivals of rust.
d.] "And if you tolerate this, then your children will be next." Manic Street Preachers - If you tolerate this.

2.) Song Prompt. (Listen to the song, check out their lyrics, even watch the video if there is one and pen me something beautiful)
a.] The Wallflowers - How good it can get
b.] Bob Dylan - All along the watchtower
c.] A Fine Frenzy - Ashes and Wine
d.] The Fray - How to save a life
e.] John Mayer - Your body is a wonderland
f.] Aqualung - Strange and beautiful (I'll put a spell on you)
g.] Garbage - The world is not enough
h.] Serj Tankian - The sky is over
i.] The Turtles - So happy together
j.] Moody Blues - Knights in white satin
k.] The Mamas and Papas - California dreaming
l.] Nancy Sinatra - Summer Wine
m.] Bob Dylan - It aint me babe
n.] Rihanna - Disturbia
o.] Staind - Believe
p.] Lifehouse - Whatever it takes
q.] Blue October - Into the ocean
r.] Immortal Technique - Harlem Streets
^^Whew. That is one long list of songs huh? All the better for you though

3.) Picture Prompts. (Loads of categories here: Fantasy, Surreal, Dark. etc. Take your pick and blow me away with your brilliant writes)

Note: Please do not forget to credit the picture in your Author Notes.

4.) Word Prompts
a.] midwinter
b.] eternal silence
c.] jaded
d.] solitude
e.] purple garden

5.) Pen me something beautiful filled with love and passion and sensuality.

6.) Pen me something beautiful filled with magic and fantasy.

7.) Pen me something that is dark and when I say dark, I mean DARK

Okay, so those are the options. Now, please be aware that you can mix all the options. By doing that, that's even better for me, the writes become even more interesting to read and judge Just make sure you mention all the options that you have chosen and mixed in your Author Notes.

Now it is time for the rules. Don't worry, there are not many! Acutally, hardly any at all!

Rules:
1- No Sticky Caps
2- No cussing/swearing
3- Be nice to the other contestants please! And read and comment on their work if you can! It won't hurt
4- Mention the options that you have written about and/or mixed in your Author Notes.
5- Follow the above four rules
See? What'd I tell you? Hardly any at all! Anything goes! Oh just one more.
HAVE FUN!
Any sort of poetry is allowed. Free-verse, Rhymes, anything, anything, anything. I don't want novels though! So yeah, basically, nothing TOO long please?!
Oh! And you can also enter more than one time. But please, no more than 3 poems per person!(I might change that later on, we shall see)
Just so I know that you've read all the rules and everything else here. (I'm sorry, I know it was long), please mention along with your option name and numbers, this - "The itsy bitsy spider climbed up the water spout"

Alrighty rue then: Here it goes! Get ready, set, GO! Start writing!

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on November 5, 2008
  • Rewards: Gold: 400, Silver: 200, Bronze: 100, Honorable mention: 8 people
  • Final notes:
    Dear all,
Thank you so much for having entered my first contest here on AP and making it such a success. I enjoyed reading every single piece. I truly did. The talent here on AP is just remarkable. It was extremely difficult to chose the winners and when I say extremely, I meant EXTREMELY! All entries were amazing, especially the finalists. Please do go and read the poems in the finalists list as well as the winners. Since it was so hard to judge, I had to add 8 HMs. Yup! Well, it was a great contest and I enjoyed it. I'll be hosting another contest similiar to this very soon, but for now, I'll stick to some quickies. Hope you will all enter those as well! Congratulations to the winners. All of you were winners though! Such talent! Wow! So yes, once again thank you for making my first contest so successful and fun!

    Much love
    Ylova

    the itsy bitsy spider
    climbed up the waterspout
    and there it waited silent
    within the endless drought

and on the soil so hardened
the ants searched for some moist
    and unaware of warden
    up waterspout they hoist

then in the web of spider
    the little specks were caught
but spout got tipped by gardener
    spider was flushed in sod!

    Love ya, Poetess
