I read the book, and wrote a poem about Elphie and Liir. Seeing as you know the play, and not the novel, I don't know if you would understand it. Did you know Elphie and Fyero had a son named Liir? And Kiam Ko was actually Yero's home with his wife and children (he never had interest in Galinda, either). Also, Elphaba really does die. The sequel (Son of a Witch, also good) is about Liir, her son, though he is unaware of said genealogy.
The two interpretations are completely different, but somehow similar. If you want me to enter, I will by all means. I've been looking for a contest in which to enter this poem for some time, now.
