A cabin by a frozen creek, off the beaten path. A small fire to conserve your wood.
I want earthy poems. I dunno how else to describe it. I want it to have the feeling of something comfortable, if even in hardship. The simplistic view is too often taken for granted; do not be afraid to take that route. The poem can be as short or long as you like. To any indie music fans, think Iron & Wine; think Fleet Foxes.
This is my first contest. I don't know why I bother mentioning; just thought you should know.
What you should know:
- I'm a stickler for grammar.
- I can't stand people trying to stylize their poems. Center alignment is fine; italics can be fine if they're used for the right reasons. If you go overboard I will not hesitate to let you know.
- I have a beard. Again, just though you should know.
- EDIT: Yes, only one entry.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on October 25, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 400, Silver: 200, Bronze: 100, Honorable mention: 2 people
- Final notes: Thank you all for a successful first contest. The beard is in tact. Also, I found some great difficulty judging between the five finalists, and I was so taken with the two remaining poems that I had to add Honorable Mention positions for those. Congratulations, and thank you all for your artful interpretations.
