It's true I can't forget any part of him,
not the long vein rising up along the underside of his cock,
or the brushy hair around his balls, dank star of the asshole,
high arches of his feet, strawberry mole on his left cheek—
imperfection that made his face exquisite
Kim Addonizio—
...the gilded cock will turn for me
the rack of time
until the peak of noon has come
and by that glare, my love will see
how I am still
blazing in my golden hell.
Sylvia Plath
...and when I'm through
hurling words as big as stones,
slashing the air with my tongue,
detonating wives and
setting babies crying
and when my lovers are finished
telling me- you're nuts,
go screw yourself and speak english please
After everything is broken
the silence expensive,
the dial tone howling like my heart
After Everything
Sandra Cisneros
...Since you walked out on me
I glow like a corpse in the dark.
No one sees how round and sharp
my eyes have grown
how my carcass looks like a glass urn,
how I hold up things in the rags of my hands,
the way I can stand through crippled by lust.
no, there's just your cruelty circling
my head like a bright rotting halo.
Lady of Miracles

-
-
Damn. Those are some good ditties up there.
-
-
a little competition is a good thing! Besides you can hang big time

Hope you enter -
-
I meant the poetry Cat posted, not the entries.
I haven't read the entries, LMAO.
Who are you? Hi? Thanks? -
-
sorry
i am an evil sister and that is all you need to know or i will have to kill you.
oh and i am also co-hosting. Mary and I both found the quotes. -
-
which leads me to wonder if i didn't make that obvious enough...
-
-
No, I just had never seen her username before.
Plus, I'm highly ignorant.
Lo siento.
-
-
you are forgiven
-
-
-
-
I think its obvious enough if you read the whole contest.
unless you have an alter ego you use?
"Heidi and I...."
"Heidi and Mary"
dunno but I think that is clear enough lol
-
-
Oh I knew there was a Heidi, I just didn't know the Heidi was you because I didn't look on the right w. your username.
No more accusations of me not reading.
-
-
-
Oh. Hola

-
-
-
-
i know you'll be adding to the collection!
-
-
I meant the poems you posted...

LoL... -
-
well duh! lol.. i knew that .. i meant you could add to our collection of favorite poets writing ugly love..
-
-
LMAO
Just the girl above thought I meant the entries. :/
I don't do love poems.
-
-
you mean you didn't... because you have a new challenge..
-
-
No.
LMAO.
Maybe outside the contest.
-
-
I am sure you could do ugly notoriously
-
-
I don't have a fancy to.
LoL at the wordplay. -
-
it's ok, somedays I am not as observant too and don't put two and two together.
-
-
-
then do a poem about how you don't write about love cuz it's too ugly...lol..
-
-
Is that exasperation I sense from you?
Maybe?
LoL that's actually a really good idea.
-
-
-
heidi you have to go read this girl... she is... uhm... like 15 (and i know i'm about to be corrected) fabulous writing
-
-
I actually have read a lot of her. Her profile page said 15.
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
OMG!!! HEIDI
You want me to write about something so sacred?
It would be blasphemy if i did, lol
I don't know about this one,
Thanks for the invite, i'll have to see... -
-
I think you would step outside your box really well. Who knows what you would unleash!
-
-
Actually i'm keeping myself leashed nowadays, lol
-
-
-
grrrrrr... i hope this will be open till i return!!! bookmarking, anyway
-
OOH, I love this idea! Bookmarked!
-
This contest has been posted for five days and I just find it!? Where the hell have I been?

BOOKMARKED!
Renee
-
-
where the hell have you been?????????
-
-
There's nothing "ugly" about the photographs of the hostesses of this contest -- to the contrary, they are "love"-ly.
It's fun to see you and Heidi doing a contest together. Looks like it's a successful one already. -
okay so somehow I hadn't seen this until now...
-
-
-
ohh bollocks!!! i missed it.. pfffttttttt!!!
-
Congratulations to the trophy winners and thankyou for the contest mandate and for both commenting. I don't think any other contest has engendered as much topic of discussion-or scared as many poets as this one! Great fun and learning curve too
-
-
scared?.... oh no.. that's not a reaction i want my contests to invoke...
we were glad to find you here...
-
-
Mary and Heidi,
I wasn't able to come up with anything in time for this but wanted to let you know that I liked reading the poems and thought the concept was a good one to explore -- love is sometimes just a flea-bitten kitten isn't it.
Lisa
-
-
i would have liked to have seen what you did with the concept-
your new contest is giving me food for thought too.. -
-
Yay! Hope you'll try something...
I'm so election-headed I can hardly think of anything else. I miss poems and poetry.
My son said yesterday "You know Ma, I read in the paper today that it is NOT healthy to obsess about the election -- you should give yourself a break"
So I thought a contest might tip my thoughts away for a few moments each day.
-
-
it's a sickness lisa..
my channel is stuck on msnbc- i tape john stewart each night, i wait all week for bill maher- - when i watched the debates
i could practically give the answers by rote- and just now i watched a commercial for obama
that shows the debate when mccain says he is not bush
and then they show him saying he has voted with bush 95% of the time- and i just talked to the TV and said.. "why the hell didn't you say that in the debate?"
i came home last night and ashley had her boyfriend over and they had rented a movie -
i thought ...WHAT? A movie?.... don't you know that Rachel maddow is coming on?
i didn't say it though... it's a sickness... -
-
I've been staying up til 2 some nights because I can't catch Chris/Keith/Rachel during the normal 7-10 time frame and can't sleep comfortably unless I see them so I watch them in the wee hours...and I've been busier than ever at my day job -- so I'm a mess! Jon Stewart and Colbert deliver me salvation in the form of laughter
I have nearly scratched scabs into my head with worry. Disgusting but true. Sickness indeed.
I am hopeful but not so much that I can believe it will turn out okay -- It was a good day yesterday with Weld backing Obama. Weld was a popular GOP governor in this state and New Hampshire folks know that. I think the huge early voter turnout is positive for Obama. The calls I've made have been positive even to New Hampshire Veterans (I couldn't believe I got THAT batch of people to call). But but but ..
Sigh.
-
-
i cried watching colin powell..
i thought.. yes, tthose are the reason- i am sales shy to make phone calls... i have signed up to stand outside town hall on november 4th....
i liked what tim robbins said last night about taking a video camera out there incase anyone is complaining about being disenfranchised... i thought it was a great idea-
-
-
I didn't see Tim! I'll have to look it up. I have cried so many times lol. I watch the yeswecarve video and cry. When Biden said "this may be our last chance" I cry. I'm a fucking mess really I need it to be over.
I have had some absolutely TERRIBLE run ins with people, have heard really awful things -- things I didn't think people still said and this to my face in person -- not on the phone. It is like poison being drawn to the surface.
And yet, I look at the kids - the kids who I helped registered to vote during the Rock the Vote and they are so pumped to vote -- there is this underlying feeling of "this is really gonna be something."
Gawd. How many more days?

I was much more erect when I thought you suggested that real women don't wear underwear at all.
honored, of course, and all that, to win the gold cup on a page with such a chubby-inducing photo of arse on the top -
-
i almost stopped there_ but thought it was too obvious
