Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on October 24, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 500, Silver: 150, Bronze: 100, Honorable mention: 4 people
- Final notes: Thank you dear Huguenauties for your wonderful poems in this contest! The wish for Queen Edna was a sentimental favorite, having the most poems and the most finalists. Thank you for voting quickly, I had to finish up the contest today for personal reasons.
Congratulations to Maureen for "When the One You Love is Ill" which was approved by the most members. You will set the November contest. One hungry poet has asked us to leave out some snacks, I suggest crackers and nuts.

To all Huguenauties,
A message from King Hugh – (a NON-ENTRY.)
In answer to your queries, I am very pleased to say
Queen Edna, from the hospital, came home just yesterday.
They’re writing to our doctor, they’ll be sending him a letter
‘coz they’ve changed her medication which we hope will suit her better.
She’s started eating food again and doesn’t feel so sick
but I’m staying within easy call in case she needs me quick.
So, for a day or two, I guess I’ll only be on line
for about an hour each morning between eight o’clock and nine.
I’ll catch up on my comments just as soon as I am able
when Edna’s health improves and, hopefully, becomes more stable.
I’m only posting older poems because they’re overdue…..
please understand, at present, I am writing nothing new.
My time is fully taken up with housework, chores and dishes
and thanks to all for understanding, love and get-well wishes.
With love and hugs, Hugh (R.)

Hi Margaret!
I'm feeling a bit rusty. It seems like forever since I've entered a contest. Got to put my thinking cap on and hope something comes to mind! I'll be back! (I hope)

Hi Margaret and Hugh, I'm working on a poem, should have it finished in a day or two.
Great choices Margaret.

Thank you Jen! I can't see on this page whether you have posted yet, so thanks for your promise. I'll be reading every few days and commenting as I go.

Thanks Renee! Best wishes

For some reason when I submitted my poem to the contest it didn't go in.. so...I've re-submitted it but now it's showing up as a pre-write. It isn't a pre-write though.
-
-
Thanks for your entry! Never fear, fresh prewrites are every bit as respectable as new poems.
Best of luck!
-
-
Congratulations Maureen, Renee and M-C and to all the HM's everyone did a wonderful job on your poems.

What? My Frankenstein poem didn't win!
Talk about rip-offs!
Yes, crackers and nuts will be just fine. Hey, wait, CRACKERS...NUTS...I get what you are driving at! You are calling everyone BUT ME crazy! -
-
Crackerjack! Now that would be perfect.
Sweet, nutty and always a prize!
Sounds like Yem to me! -
-
Take out the sugar, add salt. Yes, that sounds like me!
Yum, when is the last time you had crackerjacks? I bet it's been about 7 years for me. Now I want some.
HEY MAUREEN, there is the next contest...about SNACKS!
Do you think she heard me?
-
-
It was all that 1876 research we did, hunting for snacks.
Have to put them on the grocery list!

Thanks you Margaret with a G and of course our King Hugh with a Wyles for running a fine contest.
Sir Ima with a Q -
Thank you all for "being there."
Margaret, you did offer great choices,
with many great entries flowing in.

Thanks for the lovely green!!!
Congratulations to all and my best wishes to Edna always
-
Thank you!
Many thanks to everyone who voted for my poem. I've been down and out with a really bad cold. Today is the first day I've felt half-way decent. Congratulations to all who won trophies for your entries to Margaret's contest. I'm glad I'll have some time to recuperate before the next contest. Yem has made some crackerjack suggestions for the next contest. All suggestions will be cheerfully accepted! How about having a contest to decide what the next contest should be?
j/k Since I've only half-way recovered, it's back to bed for me.
Thanks again!
<3 Maureen

Dear Maureen, congratulations! I'm sorry you had a cold, I hope you will feel much better today! I have a suggestion - November 11 is Remembrance day, Armistice Day etc, can we have that as one option?
Get well soon!
-
-
That's a good idea, Margaret! I will definitely include it as one of the options in the November contest! Thank you for suggesting it!

Thank you for your get well wishes, too! I borrowed Echinacea and Super Tonic from a friend. I'm feeling a little better since I started taking them.

♥ THANK YOU! ♥
I am sure Queen Edna is surrounded by a rainbow array of roses right now. If not, here is a 'Baker's Dozen'.
My sincere hope and prayer is that the Queen is feeling better and healing slowly but surely.
Thank you for awarding me the Silver Chalice in this Get Well Contest. I am honored!
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE CUP WINNERS! Kudos to ALL who took time to wish our Queen well!
Much Love Always ♥
Renee
