While the PO's are meant to be about finding outstanding poetry...they are also about the superb poets who join us each week, either as writers or as judges. Without each of you, these contests wouldn't exist. Now...you may have noticed the unusually long list of judges for this POM compared to the few who were actually able to comment on and score your entries...
I am sad to say roughly half of our judging panel is /has been ill (including some of us who were able to judge) ...most with serious and ongoing conditions. Several others have had personal concerns that kept them from being able to join us...all of which snowballed into the longest time period it has ever taken to judge a PO. I am deeply sorry and apologize to everyone. With Bear offline during his move, it's been my responsibility to keep the PO's running smoothly and on time. Despite my best efforts, I feel I've let all of you...as well as Bear...down... I can't even tell you how much I appreciate everyone's patience as Freed by Mercy, Starz of Heaven, LadyDementia and I struggled through an especially difficult week, while still trying to give you the best feedback possible. Actually, I have a few comments to make yet but felt you'd all waited long enough for results, so will be finishing them later today.
With so much turmoil in our lives, I do ask a personal favor of each of you...I realize your spiritual beliefs may be different from mine...but please take a moment to read down the list of judges on the contest page and say a short prayer, or think peaceful and healing thoughts, for each person listed there. I thank you in advance...and I pray that whatever problems any of you may be experiencing...you are each blessed with God's peace and comfort.
A few contest notes...
We had a poem that was accidentally judged early. Just to let you all know, in fairness this poet was still given a chance to edit until the contest closed, although he chose not to.
I am always saddened when a poem is pulled from the contest - for whatever reason - thus banning that poet from ever joining us again, as we had happen this week. : ( We do not expect you to agree with every judge or every suggestions given, but hope you will read each critique with an open mind, then carefully weigh any advice you've been given to choose revisions (if any) that best work for your poem. Each PO judge does his or her best to treat your poem with utmost respect; we expect and appreciate the same in return!
Ask any judge, and they'll tell you it literally takes hours upon hours to judge a POM. My deep gratitude this week goes to...
Starz of Heaven - for being here week after week without fail. Knowing how precious little time and energy you have, we are honored you choose to expend so much of it on the PO's...
Freed by Mercy - for sharing your vast knowledge of poetry in thorough critiques, each designed to help poets maximize their strengths and recognize areas needing improvement. We were blessed to have you with us this week and are happy to have you join the judging panel any time you are able!
LadyDementia - for stepping in at the last minute to provide poets with another valuable critique of their work. It was a daunting task to judge so many entries in so short a time...your willingness to do so goes above and beyond anything I could have asked for or expected.
My thanks to all 3 of you...from the bottom of my heart...for your support...both personal and of the POM. You kept me going even when I didn't think I could do any more, and kept me smiling when I could have just as easily cried this week...

I just noticed that the rules are different this time... In the POW, there were no form-poems allowed, and this time it has to be in form? I'm lost... do the rules always change like that?
I pulled my entry too... I'll probably resubmit it under the same title, except in form, if that's allowed.
Am I correct in assuming that "keep it in poetic form/tone" means no free-verse? If so, I'll be really sad, since I suck at forms! -

My apologies...but I will be absent from the PO contests for the next two weeks...this weekend something has come up business wise that has to be attended to...and next weekend is our Grand daughter's first birthday luau (an extremely huge event here ...100 plus people ...and I am the one
