I'm not particularly fussed on the type... anything goes. Rhyming can be awesome. Free-verse can be awesome. You should know which one you prefer

Any length is fine, but I'm not really a fan of those "say it all in one line poems" so make it longer unless it's fantastic

I would very much prefer NO erotica stuff. Dirty Pretty is acceptable as long as it is legible

I'm allowing pre-writes, but it might be hard to find one that fits.
Could you please put your option number in author notes? and it annoys me when judges ask for some stupid phrase in the author notes, so just put a rose
please.
thanks.
Now here are the ten options:
1. Write about love -- in the way that humans experience it but make it about animals! Sad poems are preferable to cheery ones for this option.
2. Write about a dangerous adventure as a metaphor for something in life. (eg. a relationship could be a mountain climb
) or whatever.
3. Write a goodbye poem to someone who has either died or moved away. Make me cry, and you will get a trophy, more than likely
4. Write about isolation from society. Either physical, mental, metaphorical isolation.
5. Write a poem about your plans for world domination (Think: Stewie Griffin
)
6. Write a poetic letter to Lady GaGa explaining why she needs to stop dancing and why everything is NOT going to be ok. (Hint: she's lost her keys AND she can't even see straight anymore).
7. Write about your secret life as a super hero. But throw in an extra twist
8. Write from the point of view of the crazy cat lady on The Simpsons. But if you're thinking "caps lock with the words 'cats' repeated", don't bother
9. Anything that is hilarious. Make me LOL, ROFL and LMAO all at the same time. NOTE: this will be extra challenging as I'm depressed lately and have trouble laughing about anything
But you will have a good chance at a trophy if it is wonderful (and a twist at the end would be awesome!)
10. Write a poem that incorporates at least 5 geometrical shapes.
Eg. Square, circle, rectangle, triangle, pentagon, hexagon, octagon, pyramid, prism, sphere... etc etc. If you do this, BE CREATIVE

NEW!! - ok I've been getting pretty much all entries for options 3 and 4. The entries have been fantastic, but I really want some more variety, ok? Enter in option 3 or 4 only if the poem is spectacular, as i will be a bit kinder to other options from this point on.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on October 8, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 1000, Silver: 500, Bronze: 250, Honorable mention: 7 people
- Final notes: OK.
Wow.
First of all, thank you to EVERYONE who entered. I know everyone says this, but it really was damn near impossible to decide on the finalists and the winners. Congrats to those who did win, and congrats to everyone else too -- i thoroughly enjoyed reading all your entries.
Now my original plan was to have one award for each option, but because I didn't receive any letter for Lady GaGa or any monologues from the crazy cat lady, i had to have some double-ups, which is fine because i really loved the gemometrical poems and farewell ballads and stories of isolation etc.
Anyway, enough rambling.. i want to stress how guilty i feel about not being able to give out awards to everyone who entered.. unfortunately all i can do is thank you again for entering and pray that you don't hate me for it
I highly recommend reading the finalists' poems too
Thank you again everyone! And keep an eye out for my next contest

... How do u make a rose?
-
-
place the word rose in between two aterisks, like this: * rose*
but without the space between the first * and the 'r'
If it still doesn't work just write the word rose
next time i won't include that rule
too many people struggling with it.
