"Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair
In 77 and 69 revolution was in the air
I was born too late into a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair"

remember the days when music really mattered and radio was king,
when record shops were still on top and vinyl was all that they stocked,
and the only way to stay in touch was a letter in the mail?
this contest isn't about hippies....but it can be.....
it's also about the times, the world then, the music
watch the video and write
something great,
nostalgic
and moving
- left align and plain background
- apply poetic device
- we prefer free verse
- only rhyme if you can do it VERY well
- prewrites only if they fit the contest theme
and be sure to wear some flowers in your hair....

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on October 12, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 1000, Silver: 750, Bronze: 450, Honorable mention: 3 people
- Final notes: What a walk (or should we say “trip”) down memory lane this was. Both Guy and I enjoyed each and every poem, and although there were only 18 entries, it was very difficult to pick the winners. In fact, you are all winners; each poem was a flower in its own right!
Thank you for taking us back, for making us relive those glory days again. Congratulations to the winners, and thank you for supporting this contest. You rock!

in my day, we called them 'head' shops. lol.
the place for tunes, papers, and bongs.
of course, the head shops had a very select clientele...certainly not mainstream.

i traded in all my Beatle albums for King Crimson once, and they started me off in a whole new musical direction.
lol. it's obvious you got my music CD today, liefie.

and the answer is: yes
-
-
yes, i received your music CD today, liefie...and it's great
but you still need to play the guitar for me...later

of course i'm too young to remember all these things
lololol

Guess what my second job (for a very short time) was?
We had Mr. Natural & The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers painted on the windows. Sold blacklights, T-shirts, jewelry, incense, waterbeds, & all the appropriate accoutrements for the elaboration of such eclectic, ambiguous & ultimate ambience.
I still have (a lot of) my vinyl...& flowers never really left my hair, although I was slightly too young to get in on the events from the very beginning. I think I eventually managed to catch up.
Thanks for hosting. You guys are a hoot.
