Marilyn Monroe & James Dean

This contest is for the group snowflakes. You must be in the group to participate in this contest. If you're interested in entering, join the group, it's all rather simple.
We'll do the rules first:
-You MUST be in the group snowflakes.
-Username is author's notes so I know if you're in the group or not.
-Option[s] in author's notes.
-Poems and prose ONLY.
-No rhyme or middle align. Freeverse and left align only.
-For the love of Johnny Depp NO dirty pretty. Fucking gag me.
-For the love of Heath Ledger use a thesaurus if you have third grade vocabulary.
-Rock my world ladies and gents.
Ya got it?
I. Write about silence. Slowly make the world turn it's noise off through your piece. I want to be muted into a completely new dimension. The breed of silence is all up to you.
II. Take any inanimate object (preferably something that looks strange or broken, like something you would find abandoned on the side of the road) and breathe into its canvas. Describe it as if you were describing your lover napping and tangled in the bed sheets just beyond your reach. In your author's notes state what you wrote on.
III. Give me a one liner. Choke it with metaphors and emotions. Give me one line on the first thing that comes to mind, I don't care if it's peanut butter, just make it damn beautiful. Strangle me with your imagery and ardor.
IV. Give me something erotic but sensual. Don't give me something like a porno, those are horrible depictions of sex, I feel like I'm watching animals fuck on the Discovery channel. I want the natural texture of it. Make it raw, rich, dark, beautiful, feverish, and consuming. If you need inspiration, I suggest taking a gander at Marilyn Monroe's Last Sitting by Bert Stern, it's not raunchy erotica but naturally sensual (Lindsay Lohan's recreation sucked rotting balls.)
V. Give me a moment but don't stretch it. Keep it short. Drill the emotions and aftermath into my heart chambers. Example: the feeling you get when you've been listening to your music really loud when nobody's home and then turning it off just before someone walks through the garage door.
VI. Write about a fear. I'm not talking about spiders and snakes. I mean waking up and not finding what you need or giving into the deafening hush that comes with loneliness, etc.
VII. I'm sure this one is going to be the most popular of the options. Write on addiction (I don't just mean drugs but also self-mutilation, eating disorders, and if you're Harley Quinn that one person you’re obsessed with.) Don't write this bluntly, give me the physiological struggle: the friend and enemy embody the same source.
VIII. One of my favorite movies of all time is Rebel without a Cause starring James Dean. Be inspired by one of the quotes from the movie but don't use the quote in your piece. If I think you use wording that is too similar to the quote I will ask you to rewrite your piece. Write about how the quote makes you feel as apposed to restating what has already been said.
Jim: "I woke up this morning, you know... and the sun was shining, and it was nice, and all that type of stuff. And first thing, I saw you, and, uh, I said, 'Boy, this is gonna be one terrific day, so you better live it up, because tomorrow you'll be nothing.' You see? And I almost was."
Jim: "Nobody talks to children."
Judy: "No, they just tell them."
Judy: "I love somebody. And all this time... I've been looking for somebody to love me. And now I love somebody. And it's so easy. Why is it so easy now?"
Plato: "Do you think the end of the world will come at night time?"
Jim: "Uh-uh, at dawn."
Jim: "I don't know what to do anymore. Expect maybe die."
Jim: "You can wake up now, the universe has ended."

Ya dig daddy-o?
You can enter more than once and combine options. Also, I'll add in HMs depending on how many pieces I get.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on November 24, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 1000, Silver: 500, Bronze: 300, Honorable mention: 8 people
- Final notes: This was probably the hardest contest I've had to judge. You guys are a fantastic bunch of word-slingers. These pieces were incredibly beautiful and stirring, some of the words and images still haunt me.
The winner can start another contest if she wants to, it's not a requirement though. If she chooses not to do so and some one else would like to pick up the ball and make a contest for our group, they can.
Thank you guys for entering!
