    Hi Everyone, and thanks for joining us in another POW. : ) This seemed to be a difficult PO for many of us judges, and you‘ll find not all of the final comments are full of flowery praise this week. : ( While I have to agree with my co-judges on the issues they’ve mentioned, I also think Neon said it best that... “there were some stellar moments to be found in almost every entry.” But, don’t be discouraged by low scores or tough critiques! The PO’s are one of the best contests on AP to get honest and constructive feedback on your poems, and I hope each of you will have found something of value in the critiques you were given, to carry with you and use in your writing. Keep the ideas and suggestions you’ve been given by each judge in mind, don’t be afraid to try something new, be sure to join us again...and your scores are certain to climb...hopefully all the way to gold! : )

    I hope each of you will also check out the column Bear has written about the "O" series of contests. It’s a great informer or reminder of why this contest was created, and what we hope it accomplishes...

    And now, let’s get right to our winners, yes???

    With a total of 471.20 out of a possible 500 points...Gold goes to Xianaria, for the poem “Killing My Old Man”. Wow! If you have any questions about what it takes to win a PO gold, this would be one of the poets to ask! This is Tim’s 3d gold in a PO, a stellar accomplishment for any poet when up against so many top-notch, talented pens. Congrats, Tim!

    Silver goes to a “new face in the crowd”...with 467.30 points...Immortal Obscurity with the poem “ragged”. Congrats, and I hope we’ll be seeing much more of you in future PO’s! I feel like I ought to put a “Do not try this at home” warning on her poem, LOL ...as I will say it pushes almost every boundary I can think of for a PO entry...yet still scored favorably by all 5 judges. Hum.....

    Finally, our Bronze winner, with 450.75 points...”Dancing With the Devil” by cutiepie. This was another wonderful entry by a poet also no stranger to top honors in past PO contests. Congrats!

    Hello, POW contestants! This was, by far, the most
    difficult POW to judge that I have encountered. The
    topics were controversial in many instances, and the
    attention to rules seems to have flown out the window.
    But, putting that aside, there were some stellar
    moments to be found in almost every entry. It is
    always so with these contests, and that keeps me
    coming back, week after week, to review and critique.
    These critiques are meant to encourage, not discourage,
    each writer. If it seems sometimes that I, or any judge,
    is 'picky'...well, we ARE! And for good reason. The
    rules that we apply are intended to encourage discipline,
    and attention to detail..both of which lead to inproving
    your writing skills. It is always towards this end
    that I, or any judge, makes suggestions, or comments on
    an infraction of the basic 'rules'. That being said,
    I want to congratulate this week's winners, and encourage
    everyone to join us each time in the PO' series. I look
    forward to it!

    Really still looking for that creative, image filled,

    new…I do not consider poems penned on love,
    nature, religion, or death, uncommon….unless

      Awww...thanks for saying I look good in the driver's seat. Whenever you're ready and able, I will be more than happy to become one of those "back seat" drivers, and let you take over the real job again.

      I have even more respect for what you've done and accomplished in the last year and a half of PO contests now that I've had a taste of this! The PO's will never be the same without you no matter how good a job I do, so hurry back, k?
