If You Were A Word - What Word Would You Be?

Sounds easy right?

Think Again!! Think hard.


So.....Here's what I want:


Think very carefully about this one people. If you were to be "summed up" in a SINGLE word found in a dictionary, what word would that be? No making up words either. It must be a "real" word. Still think it's easy, eh? Hehehehehehehe. I want fresh original thinking here, guys & gals. Think out of the box! Give me something that "IS" you! You may use any word, but make it good! I am only accepting 15 entries, and you only have 5 days.

The image is NOT a prompt! It's just meant to "spur" you on to use that thinking cap of yours. DO NOT write me a poem about the chimp or I will fill your bed with cyber fleas, and send cyber ants to your next picnic!


Now; the rules: Read them carefully please.


15 entries ~ 15 lines. NO EXCEPTIONS!



Now that you have your word, place that word in your "authors comments" section.

Then; write yourself as that word without using that word in your poem or title. In other words...paint me a picture of you in words.

Free verse only.

Left align.

USE YOUR IMAGINATION!!! Be creative. Dazzle me!

No chat speak.

Metaphors are your friend

Careful use of poetic device.

Correct spelling please. Spell check is available here people.

Plain non-obtrusive backgrounds and easy to read fonts please.




I am looking for a specific type of poetry here. So; there will be no whining or crying if I DQ your poem. It does NOT mean it was a bad poem - simply means that it's not quite what I was looking for. I welcome, and even encourage you to try again. I'm not telling you exactly what to do as I want this poem to be "YOU."

  • Final notes:
    First; I'd like to thank everyone for their patience with me in editing this contest. We had a storm that put our power out (someone hit and downed a major power pole) for two days!! Seems us country folk aren't a high priority to the county workers...LOL!


    NOW; ONTO THE CONTEST!!

    I was so pleasantly amazed at the caliber of all the entries, and the peek inside all you poets. I so enjoyed reading all these. And, as always, your work is exceptional....ALL of you!!

    First place got there because the voice in this poem just screamed at me. The word was an everyday one, yet the poet made it jump off the page!

    Second place poem is there because of the elegant simplicity and stellar language. It is expertly penned, and touched my soul.

    Third place...well, Everything about this one was outstanding, and exactly what I was looking for in this contest.


    I recommend you read all the above poems and authors, as they are excellent writers!!

    This is not to speak any less of all the other entries. They are ALL spectacular !! Know that I had an extremely difficult time coming to any kind of finalist list. I read and enjoyed each and every one!!


    I had such a good response in this contest, I may do another soon.
