Hi Everyone!
Welcome to another amazing new contest which is a very special treat for all who enter
Co-hosted by:
Tom & Kaz

Option 3 = 2

(SORRY NOW TAKEN BY 2 POETS!)

OK, now before you go penning anything please please please read below carefully:
Rules - Vital or DQ is possible!
*Reminder*:
ONE painting per entrant and TWO entrants per painting.
so choose your muse and add this to your notes and in brackets in your title or if you
Reserve put "Reserve (Option # _) in the subject line where you out the name of your poem, so that others
entering the contest know which ones are left to work with and we know which paintings are being worked on!
We want you to view the painting as someone in an art gallery looking at the painting you have chosen, then pen what you see, or go beyond what you see and pen what you feel from it or how you personally would interpret it.
If you reserve you MUST complete your poem within 24 hours max of doing so (NO longer please) DQ will occur if this is not done to give someone else a chance as places are limited, and a lot have expressed an interest to enter.
Entrants must be happy for their poem to be given out with the painting when sold or used
in any publications by Tom Baron in connection with these paintings. If poets would prefer not to have their work used then it won't be and in any event permission would be asked from you beforehand and only used if you give this and it doesn't infringe on copyright's involving your publisher or any other. This will always be with full mutual agreement. If poets are happy for their names to be known in any event, that will be ok if they prefer not to have their name stated/made known in this connection that's ok too! Very easy going on this and idea of this is artists and poets mutually supporting each other where there is mutual agreement to do so!
Artists paint with paints and poets with words, put the two together and the artist can illustrate the painted words with paint and the poet can paint an interpretation of the artwork with words and that means mutally beneficial happenings hopefully!
Watch this space! Likewise applies to photographers, and other producers or art, and writers as well as poets. Together we can make a difference by mutually supporting one another.

Usual other rules apply:
No explicit erotica
If ADULT please mark as such.
Humourous angles are ok.
Love good rhyme and flow
Please use backgrounds which do not obscure the text.
Form poetry is accepted.
Love good and vivid imagery.
Love Poetic Graphics.
Intellectual, Abstract, Storyline, Creativity also welcome!

Look forward to your entries and all will be read and reviewed.
Poetic Hugs & Thanks for dropping in!

Option 3 = 2

Poetic Hugs & Thanks & Best of Luck
Have Fun Everyone!

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on September 16, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 1000, Silver: 800, Bronze: 600, Honorable mention: 37 people
- Final notes: This has been a very difficult, virtually impossible, contest to judge with fantastic, incredible work by extremely talented and creative poets.
I feel honoured to have been involved, to have had the experience of reading the works and to have been in contact with so many great people throughout.
I judged the contest based on the poem's relevence to the particular painting, the emotion, memories and imagery evoked and the feelings that the poem left me with.
And what a roller coaster ride it has been, 40 fantastic works in three days, truly amazing . I need to lie down now.
Gold: The Last Winter Storm
Phenomenal imagery, emotion and language. This work left me astonished, an absolutely fantastic epic tale based on my wee painting.
The beauty, subtlety and power of the words, time and rhyme in this poem is a true work of art.
Silver: Pallett of Radience
A very beautiful, serene and emotional poem which I was very touched by.
So delicate and rich in its imagery and a lovely read.
Fabulous !
Bronze: Such poetic beauty and imagery, flowing beautifully with rhyme and gentleness.
An awe inspiring read !
H.M.s :
No specific order of merit in judging as they were all equally amazing and so enjoyable to read.
Thank you all so much for entering the contest.
I would like to wish you all my very best wishes with all your poetry work and in life.
With huge respect and thanks.
Tom

North sea breakers
The answer is 'North sea breakers' by Tom Barron -
Answer to question
Question: "Which painting was painted on the Shore at Lower Largo, Fife, Scotland"?
Answer: "North Sea Breakers" Option 16 -
Re Lower Largo - the only painting that recalls the Fife shoreline to me is "North Sea Breakers". But I have my doubts, because on the "Fife Riviera" (!) I would expect to see across the Forth, rather than just the sea.
However, there is only one picture left without a place-name in the title, so if I am wrong, someone else will have a free shot
-
-
Oops, creative error by the artist, I should have called it ' Costa del Largo breakers ' or maybe ' Way out over the Forth estuary ', not quite the same juicy title.
I apologise for the mis-use of my artists license, it should be revoked immediately !! -
-
Nae worries, pal - it's a brah picture!
Now what I want tae ken is, how a' these ither fowk have the answer, when there wiz naethin' on the screen a wee whiley ago when Eh posted mines?
(Oh and by the way - how many of them will own up to having looked on your site first!
)

Darn, I missed this one,too... another great contest featuring a very talented artist. If you happen to do another one I hope I catch it in time
-
Option 10 looks lonely so ...
The rain has turned the fields to river beds
So farmers cannot boast of harvest home
With other workers safely in their beds
A Scottish farmers boots still cling to loam
At last the grain is gathered in to dry
While straw is baled vast unwieldy in drums
To leave a scene that's easy on the eye
And time at last for twiddling of thumbs
In years gone by an army worked this land
And muddy boots were seen by every door
Now very few take farming tools to hand
And life is not an idyll any more
But still the land looks beautiful to me
However far from perfect it may be
-
an artist AND in a band? Tom is to be envied...!

A very wonderful contest . . .
beautifully administered and fun with all the extra contests and continual involvement.
It is extremely humbling to have won the gold in this contest. There were so many fantastic entries. For one of the few times in my life I am short of words. Those who know me would think that impossible.
To the Tom (the artist) thank you for the consideration and the paintings. To other poets, thank you, for sharing your words with all of us.

Thanks so much for the honorable mention Tom. It was a wonderful contest and thank you sharing and inspiring us with your amazing artworks. Blessings, Patty
-
Thanks for the HM, wonderfully held contest, great inspirations & congrats to all winners

You are more than welcome!
You are more than welcome!
We wanted everyone to get a Gold, as all entries were well worthy of that and Tom had a hard job judging the contest which was soley his job, I merely paid out the points and set the contest up and helped manage it with Tom who did very well since it was his first go at judging a poetry contest!
We decided on extending the winnings so that everyone other than the Gold, Silver and Bronze winners got a HM, just such a pity we couldn't give everyone a Gold though.
But hey, thanks millions for entering and for honouring us with your phenomenal entry, which we will treasure! Your Work is fantastic and best of luck to you in all contests.
Poetic Hugs & Thanks millions,
Kaz & Tom
