Can you dig it?
I'm studying Kerouac, Ginsberg, Burroughs, Cassady, etc... all the Beats for the next couple months at school. After reading Kerouac's biography I feel like I know him better than myself. Point of story, here's your prompt:
Write me something about or inspired by the Beats.
Rules:
1. nO tYpInG lIkE tHiS pLeAsE
2. i prefer new poems, but i know how frustrating it is when you have a prewrite that's perfect for a contest, so i'm allowing prewrites as well
3. i don't care about swearing, but only use it if it's necessary
4. i prefer poems that don't rhyme
5. if you don't know who Kerouac is go here:
http://www.beatmuseum.org/kerouac/jackkerouac.html
that is an insanely short biography on him. look up the others as well
i will probably add spaces for honorable mentions when i'm juding. as usualy, i will not make a finalists list until i am judging as i find those lists quite rude. questions? send me a message. good luck
PEACE

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on September 29, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 100, Bronze: 75, Honorable mention: 1 people
- Final notes: Thanks to everyone who entered. I judged by what I thought was the most beat and what I liked the best (obviously). I also added one honorable mention. There were some great beat pieces here but I could only pick a couple and let me tell you it was insanely difficult. Thanks again to all of you. Keeping digging life.

It's nice to see someone else who appreciates the beats. (:
I am quite certain that Jack Kerouac is my one true love.
I've got a fair few poems that fit this category. I'll have to think about entering something. -
bookmarked
I have a bazzillion prewrites, but I'll try to find time for something new. -
then you gotta follow Ken Kesey onto the magic bus and ride for a while. And don't forget to read Hunter S. Thompson's good works as well...

Love Keruoac. Dharma Bums rocked my world. Excellent idea.
