My girlfriend, Lexxi has substance abuse problems, with alcohol and drugs. But I have finally convinced her to get clean, and she is going into rehab, because she finally realizes the damage she's done to herself.
Essentially, what I am looking for are letters of support in poem form. Survivor stories, or just love. On saturday, when I go to see her, I will surprise her with your ten poems, and we will pick the three winners together. I thank you all for time in writing this. I'm sorry I don't have more points to give out for this.
I have upped the number to twenty. Also, she loves beat poetry very much, and is obsessed with Bukowski, so maybe a Bukowski-esque work from someone would be good.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on October 9, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 1000, Silver: 600, Bronze: 327, Honorable mention: 1 people
- Final notes: I'm sorry to all of you who put it so much effort that it took so long for me to judge. Lexxi and I have had a myriad of things on our minds, as I'm sure you can all imagine. I am judging this without her, but I looked through the ones she commented and loved and then balancing it out with my own opinion. I am happy to say that she's been sober for over 40 days now. I appreciate all those who cared enough to make an entry in this contest; they were all very sweet and compassionate. Those five who have won; you truly have the gift (and curse, as it can be) of being writers. Wonderful ones, and I wish you luck in all of your future endeavors.

i wish i felt inspired right now. i havent written in so long, im so rusty. but this is like the sweetest thing ever.i hope you get some grea poems, i hope she loves them, and best of luck to her in her recovery and to you two in your relationship. -
I don't know you, or your girlfriend, but I wish her the best of luck in recovering. I myself come from alcoholics parents, and one of my sisters has been placed in a home for being abusive, and going drugs.

:-) I wish her the best for getting clean. And I wish you the best for keeping her in a positive space!
