It seems that I have been in a poetry slump and just can't rouse my muse up to help with anything spectacular. The last time I wrote anything worthy of being called mine was a good few months ago. What I really want is something to read -- I want inspiration back in my life. I haven't been really keeping up with Allpoetry and hopefully I can find something great to come back to.
Now, I figure a few options are in order to give you the inspiration to write.
Option One: "Dearest [Name]..."
Write a letter to yourself from the past. Has anything major happened in your life in the past five years that you wish someone had warned you that was coming? Maybe you just needed some advice over some jerk who hurt you. Help me understand the pain or love that you felt.
Option Two: Picture Perfect
Find a picture from http//:www.deviantart.com and use that as your inspiration. Tell me what you see from looking at that picture. Paste the picture in your Author's notes so that I can see what you were looking at while writing your poem.
Option Three: The Perfect Wording
Use at least ten of the following thirty words in your poem.
Desire; Peace; Hope; Hurt; Pain; Love; Sorrow; Wanted; Needed; Fear; Dance; Chase; Kiss; Shield; Feel; Memories; Angel; Spirits; Kingdom; Devil; Magic; Shell; Empire; Lost; Demon; Shadow; Sanctuary; Dream; Waterfall; Moon.
The tense can be changed, whether it is singular or plural, the form of the word can be changed as well {from noun to adjective}.
Option Four: This Hell We've Created
I was a bit weary to add this one on. But tell me what you think about our society today. What about makes you upset/depressed? How does it anger you? Do you think there is something we could do to change it to make it easier for everyone?

Rules -- Plain and Simple.
-Please use the spell check.
-Please don't type with text lingo; while I won't disqualify you for it, it's always nice to use full length words.
-Be creative and original with your poems. Nothing too cliché.
-No bashing religion or other poems for that matter.
- If you need any ideas for a poem, message me and let me know. I have poems for each if you need any reference.
-No sticky caps.
-Put your heart and soul into your poem.
-Use imagery and emotion.
-Any genre is allowed but keep it so that it fits.
-While I'd love to see new poems, I am allowing prewrites as well. But make sure it really fits with the category.
-You can enter more than one poem. But if you do enter two or three, make sure one is a fresh poem.
-I'm a sucker for rhyming poetry, but it's not a requirement.
And most of all, just have fun with it.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on September 18, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 400
- Final notes: I tried to comment on all of the entrees, but sadly, there were some that just couldn't keep my whole attention. There were some pretty amazing poems I read as well as so many other fantastic ones. This was definitely such a hard contest to judge mostly because there were so many poems that I wanted to give the 400 points to. In the end, I am happy with the choice I made. I'm so happy for all of those who did enter the contest and I hope to maybe have another one soon.
