    It is late, and I have been sitting here at my PC since 10 this morning.....so please forgive
    my typing....I don;t have the energy to edit and my eyes are blurry...hehe ~

    First off....let me thank your Judges.....gosh.....what a Team!

    Let's welcome Cupcrazy & Wrinkling Mind to yhe Judging Staff.....I am grateful for
    your time and dedication to the written word ~

    I do hope we see you join us again.....you did a wonderful job.....thank you....really, thanks!

    right now Wow..This was a very different contest experience for me.
    I found out there's a lot out there I don't know anything
    about!

    We had a wonderful mix of poetry this time..from the
    deeply dramatic to the hilarious. We explored nature and
    nuture, hope and despair, tears and laughter. No wonder
    I'm exhausted!

    Thank you, wonderful poets, for making this a very
    enlightening POW.

    I was very pleased to see so many creative entries! The scoring was tight - tied on a few, I think…..that’s a good sign of creative writes, all vying for the Gold. I had some trouble with commenting - I kept getting cut off by the storms coming through here, so some comments were shorter than others - sorry about that.

    I am taking a break from judging for awhile. I have enjoyed reading the entries while I‘ve been a judge, and will strive to continue commenting on the upcoming entries. But I need a break to take care of some personal problems.

    right now Well everyone this was my first time at judging the POW and I must say I have read some great entries and some less than stellar efforts. But through them all I have found wonderful talent, and something of value in each and everyone. I also know that with time that talent will grow by leaps and bounds and can only hope that you all keep striving to attain poetic excellence and that you continue to grace the POW's with all your fine efforts.

    Blotting Paper

    Title 9.4...I would click on this Title... but I think that it could be more obscure to draw the reader in. I like a tantalizing title.

    Flow 9.45....meter is good....but again, without connective words I felt it became a little choppy.

    Depth 9.55....nice depth, but I think you could have gone a little further since you didn't use the maximum lines allowed and still had room to grow.

    Theme 9.85..nice Theme... not unique, but your take on it was quite captivating.

    Feelings 9.00...lacking.. the anger was there, but it kind of simmered instead of exploded. I think you could have reved it up a little.

    Grammar 9.7....quite good.., nice use of alliteration, but your word choices limited you a little so the phrasing was not as unique as it could have been.

    Presentation 9.85....great, smooth and even.

    Uncommonness 9.1 ...well it is an overused theme, so was looking for more creativity here.

    Sit & Ponder Affect 9.2... well this scored lower in this department for me, because there was really nothing to ponder over, it was straight forward and as I said a theme I have read many times.

    Theme 9.85..very nice Theme... Although the inner sanctum is not a new idea, this was quite engaging.

    Feelings 9.75...good, could have been better but this had a kind of flashback feel to me, where one is accepting the emotion of the situation and digesting it. Almost like swallowing the bile rather than throwing it up, if that makes any sense.

    Grammar 9.8....very nice use of words and line breaks.

    Presentation 9.85....great, smooth and even.

    Uncommonness 9.5 ...well it is not a unique theme, but your presentation of it was unique.

    Sit & Ponder Affect 9.7... well this scored higher in this department for me, because there was really a lot to ponder over, it was abstract and left the reader enough room for multiple interpretations.

    Flow 9.35....a little choppy, your line breaks did little to help the flow in this piece, in places it was just too abrupt and made the reader lose focus so that they had to go back and reread to pick up the story line..

    Depth 9.35....very little depth here, it tells a wonderful tale, it captures a time and a moment, but it doesn't lead me to dwell or think other than to engage in my own similar memories..

    Theme 9.35..nice Theme... not unique, but memories can be quite captivating.

    Feelings 9.1...lacking.. but it did have a melancholy feel to it.

    Grammar 9.5.....simple but effective.

    Presentation 9.45... some of the lines are too long while others are too short. Need to work on your line breaks and the visual read of the piece.

    Uncommonness 9.1 ... an overused theme, so was looking for more creativity here.

    Well firstly...my sincere apologies for being late with comments. I had some family things that came up, giving me a late start...but I will be making comments on all writes tomorrow. A huge thank you to Bear for allowing me to judge and turn in scores before doing that, as this was a fantastic PO contest that I would have hated to miss! I especially loved seeing some "old faces" return...and of course it's always great to see first timers as well. : ) Thanks also to my co-judges for their wonderful reviews this week...I always learn so much from reading your critiques, and know the time, energy, and dedication it takes to judge these contests.

    We had such a huge variety of themes this week, a few with a wonderfully humorous touch, which I enjoyed after so much "seriousness". lol

    If you haven't already, I hope everyone will also check out the new POW group where we have boards up for questions and concerns, creative theme ideas, and links to past and present PO contests. Plus, it's a great group of people and another fun place to share your talents.
