This contest is pretty much open to everybody! The last contest I hosted wasn’t as big a success as I had expected, so I hope that you will all help make this one a good one.
As the title say, anything can be entered in this. If you just finished a new piece – enter it here! Or do you have an older poem, which you think deserves a trophy but never received one? Enter it here!
For the poets out there who often uses these contests for inspiration (I do too) and wants something specific to write about – a prompt – well, I’ve got a few of those too! There are titles, word prompts and picture prompts.
Titles:
- Towels Can Be Used As Blankets
- Pizzas Dance Naked in the Moonlight
- The Years With The Monk
- Beetles Get a Bad Rap
- Bunnies Talk to Me When I'm Sleeping
- All in the eyes of a boy
- Wildflower Fractured
- Stained Glass
- Frosty Blackberry
- Mintcream Black Velvet
- Honey Jungle

Those who possess true talent will not give me clichés. I know that some of the prompts are easy to twist into a poem that we’ve all read a couple of times before. But let’s try to make something new and creative, shall we?
I will not give you many rules, but I will give you hints: I’m not a fan of chat speak or dirty pretty. Other than that, the usual rules apply and it’s always nice to comment on each others poetry. You can enter as many times as you want, though only once per prompt and preferable only one prewrite.
Please add prompt, if used, in author notes!
So that’s about it! I will try to comment on all entries, but I will not applaud any! More points will be added if the quality of work demands it.
Have fun!

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on September 3, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 75, Bronze: 50, Honorable mention: 3 people
- Final notes: I want to thank everybody for entering my contest, and making it a successful one. I truly enjoyed reading all of your poetry, but 6 pieces stood out to me. By surprise, one of them was of prose which is funny since I always rule out prose in my contests, but in this one I forgot to. And as a result of that, two entries were prose and one of them wins a trophy.
All of the 6 pieces who gets a trophy are amazing, and if you all have time, you should go read them. The HM’s are in no particular order. The winners are:
Gold: Breaching Borders by Lowercase Prelude
Silver: You See by CaliOkie
Bronze: Like Colors Coming Together to Match Their Surroundings by supermansdead
HM:
- Shining by Olivia33
- The Otherworld by Still Anonymous
- When Mystery Winks and Smiles by Black JaPanther
I applaud you for your amazing gifts. I will bookmark your entries, so that I can come back and enjoy them again in the future.
Thanks!
