Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on August 26, 2008
  • Rewards: Gold: 5000, Silver: 3000, Bronze: 2000
  • Final notes:
Ok, so you have all taken me away for these nine rounds...but this....this....this is beyond imagining...the pulse of pens in these collaborations speak for themselves. I will not pretend to have ever written such, nor read more beautiful collaborations.

    You say it yourselves:

"In a world filled with darkness,
    words leap off of pages.
    Stars...
illuminating the lives of those who read them," – from “syllables and stars”

    “Drowning fast in nature uttered,
    stolen breath and flailing flutter,
    gulping rush of crystal tumbling
    pleading, gasping, I am finding
    passion
in your quiet flood.” – from “Beneath The Trickling Serenade”

"it only needs release from its source
to cross vacuums of verse in particulate beams
or behave like a wave, spreading itself wide
to slice the darkness in stark patterns.
    when illumination shrinks
    to something pale and small,
the time comes for someone of wisdom
    to wield the flaming pen
drawing our eyes away from lightless places." – from “weightless”

As well, I might have lied a little......I had five thousand points left and no one deserves them more than you all... but there is an attachment to the gift....please, all of you, feature your work for a few of the points....such poetry as this needs to be read by those poets coming along behind you.

Thank you for being my favorites of favorites, all of you. Thank you for your inspiration, for loving poetry enough to share your inspirations. Thank you, as well, for rising to the challenges.
