Well, the other day it struck me right behind the shoulder blades that I have really been blessed. Not only to be a part of such a wonderful community of talented and compassionate poets, but also because I have been honored to find and get to know so many NEW young poets who have impressed me not only with their poetry but also with their vast potential.
So I have decided to take a leaf from the great Patrons of the Renaissance and host a contest to encourge these incredible talents so they may showcase their exquisite skills and also convey my thanks for allowing me to not only know them as poets but as friends as well.
I have also had the great honor of having a remarkable and generous friend/poet 'the atlantic' (aka pushback) to serve as my co-host. From the first, he has been an extraordinary comrade, whose talents have not only been astounding from the first time I read him, but whose pen has just gained and gained even more momentum in both grace and brilliance. He is both loyal and extremely warm and loving, and I thank him profusely for helping me judge what I feel will be a most pleasantly strenous contest.
The only condition we require the following poets do after one of them wins, is to please host a similiar contest in the near future using up to half of all the points they win. This way, the grand history and tradition of Patronizing the arts may continue and the winner will in turn bring encouragement and accolades to the poets they have just recently discovered or who they feel are on the brink of true genius.
THE LIST:
Allyce May
Annalise
Axelle Black
ellipsis
geometry
grassisgreener
Hannaesque
hilly
hiraeth
LadyAmalthea
likeforeignpost
Puking Faerie Dust
Sailor Ptolema

You have all been chosen because we have seen something delightful and brilliant in your poetry. Something that speaks of art and beauty and exclaims that here, we might find THE NEXT BIG THING. It has been our pleasure to not only enjoy your works but also know what wonderful people you are outside of pen and paper.
For that, we ask nothing only that you continue to give us a piece of your shining souls, to impress us with your stunning words and gorgeous imagery. You all have stirred in some intangible way and we trust that you will do this contest justice.
And even though only three will be selected for pts and trophies, know that just by being on this list you are ALL elites.
Thank you from our hearts,
Darcy & JP

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on September 17, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 2000, Silver: 1000, Bronze: 500
- Final notes:
Oh my goodness gracious great fires of hades and all that stuff...but this was so incredibly hard to judge! We were so impressed by each and every piece entered here that to say we loved them is like saying diamonds are just really pretty pebbles. But these poems far outshined any useless bauble for there was such passion, such beauty and breathtaking imagery that instead each piece was a living breathing work of art. We cannot thank you enough for allowing us the supreme pleasure of viewing them and just know that the gratitude we feel is quite inadaquate to express.
Suffice it to say that each of you have only served to make us believe that we are in the presence of elites.
Please if you have the chance, read EACH entry and not only the winners...for once you do, we feel that you will then understand what the word POETRY truly means.
Again, thank you...
Hugs,
Darcy and JP
