Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on September 8, 2008
  • Rewards: Gold: 555, Silver: 333, Bronze: 111, Honorable mention: 20 people
  • Final notes:
    dear poets,

my husband jean-marc and I have greatly enjoyed reading your wonderful entries, relaxing on our deckchairs underneath the lime-tree, listening to birdsong ...

it has been a difficult task to decide who would be the "winners", since more than three poems have won our hearts ...

therefore, greenies for each one of you ...

thank you again for the privilege of reading and enjoying your work ...

    much love,

    maa

    MESSAGE FROM JEAN-MARC :

    dear poets,
although future is nothing more than a thought, we have really enjoyed reading your inspired words concerning a mythical date ...
choosing three poems out of 23 was not an easy task, but we followed our feelings for finding the "winners" ...
thank you for having invested time and energy to share your intimate inspiration concerning future, fear, hope and accomplishment ...
may we all have the wisdom to welcome each moment as it is ...

    jean-marc

    do you actually believe that?
We're on God's watch.. nobody will know
the day or the year or the hour it happens.

    But that's just my belief.

Our clan here in town believe the day of the woman is at hand, and only through her, will the earth be saved to be made into a new haven for all of earths creatures. Also the old drums are teaching and bestowing their old medicine onto the new drums, and more new drums are being made now then every before in our native history, in the same rhythms as the old ones. But no date/year has been put on the new transition. Just the day of the woman… Just thought I’d share that with you I do not know if I will be entering or not, my father in law is in the winter of his life and is fading fast. The doc says it will be within a week … But good luck to all that enter AND I’d love to read the entries, so please feel free to send me your link or just remind me.

    Hugs & Bugs, Cindy

oh cindy, we are so connected ... I have adopted 4 big shamanic drums made by native american drummakers during the last 2 months ... every day, I honor their spirit in playing them, and I am astonished that one of them has lowered its spirit-voice resonating in a way that seems impossible for this size and sort of drumface ... another one was mute for 3 days, and only when I had an accident, it would start sending out powerful deep healing vibrations when I held it close to me, crying ... the third one, a very big drum made by a cherokee-drummaker, made me dance a dance I have never danced before, I was not myself anymore, and memories of old emerged from deep within ...

I love you, cindy, your message has brought the missing piece to my mysterious puzzle, and tears are flowing now ... please receive all my love and thoughts of gratitude and respect, together with my heartfelt prayers for your dear father in law ...

    Awesome Very good prompt.

Does the poem have to be about the Mayan view
or can we write about how we think the world will end?

Ahh....2012....saying it is the 'end' of the world going by the Mayan calander is the literal interpretation, as in it means the end as in apocalypse/destruction. It may very well mean some other kind of end, most likely a paradigm shift.

Also, one thing a lot of people are now considering is that 2012 is the end date on the Mayan calender as that is just the date that they stopped projecting forward, for whatever reason, the Mayans were doing a lot of things other than just their calander that they just stopped suddenly and seemed to dissapear.

However, I digress....excellent prompt, but I doubt I'll be able to enter as my brain at the moment is having one massive fart, if you'll pardon the express.

    All the best of luck!

    Wonderful Idea!

The drums have been speaking for many years but only until recently have many begun to truly listen. I will return shortly with a story to post although it will be in freestyle, which is not my usual writing form, yet this calls to my heart and needsto be shared. Thankful to be here again my dearest!

      mother !!!
so happy to see you back and stopping by this page ... it was meant to be ...
I will wait like a cat before a mousehole for your shared vision and teaching, wise one ...
still, many don't wish to listen to the drums ... (especially my neighbours ) ... but my husband already uses them for one patient with parkinson's disease, and he seems very responsive and even succeeds to coordinate his otherwise discordant movements ... here's a great article about the benefits of drumming in the medical field :

      http://stmarys.org/body.cfm?id=129

not very mystical, but a great bridge between spirituality and science ... we westerners are like babies who need the guidance of the native elders in order to reconnect with our source ... only then, will we stop to do harm to mother earth and her inhabitants and start to honor her ...

thank you for being in my life !
your mantema hina hanta (I'm wearing an eagle-shirt right now )

        Yep!

That's the way it is for me. Judging is an imperfect science done by imperfect people who are sometimes totally confused by extraneous guidelines that really don't amount to a hill of beans. In other words just wing it and hope that the **** doesn't fly back in your direction. A judge just has to do what a judge does and that is to judge.
