Child Abuse: What words can you give children for hope?

I am now allowing prewrites!!

This contest was inspired by a wonderful young person on this site named DarkWolfGirl.

Approximately six children are reported abused and neglected in America every minute (more than 3 million abuse reports a year). (National Committee for Prevention of Child Abuse)

More than half the child victims of rape or sexual assault are age 12 or younger. (US Dept. of Justice)

So many more children are abused everyday, and it is never reported.

"Child abuse casts a shadow the length of a lifetime”

Herbert Ward quotes

Please write a poem addressed to an abused child. What can you say to encourage them and give them hope? Hope that there really are good people in the world. I want poems that give some light at the end of the tunnel. One person can mean the world to a hurting child when they offer hope to them. Tell them how precious and valuable they are. They need to hear how special they are as they do not hear it at home.

Any form is fine.

Standard rules apply.

I will comment all entries.

You are wlecome to enter but if it doesn't fit the contest as far as giving hope and encouragement to an abused child, it probably won't win. I have sadly had to turn a few others away for that reason. It is difficult because they were wonderful poems, but just didn't fit. I think next contest will be more broad. I would love to read it though, so please enter if you wish Patty
