As some of you may know, my one-year anniversary on AllPoetry is fast approaching! I am celebrating by holding a contest, which will be ending on the exact one-year anniversary of my arrival here, August 6. The rules are below. I am not too strict, but your chances of winning WILL be affected if you have not read the rules.
Rules:
1) I do NOT want to see anything vulgar. Not that I expect that, but it's a general thing to say.
2) Please put "one year" in your author's notes box to let me know that you've read the rules.
3) In addition to that, please put the option number you have chosen in the author's notes box as well.
4) Prewrites ARE allowed, although fresh writes have a better chance of winning. Also, the prewrite MUST be relevant to the picked option.
5) Your entry may be a story, poem, paragraph, etc. As long as it corresponds to the option, I don't care.
6) Do your best with grammar and spelling. I will be taking that into account when I am judging this.
7) You may enter as many times as you like. =)
POINTS ARE SUBJECT TO RISE.
Options:
1) Write something about me. It can be anything about me, what you think of around me, what I like, a memory, etc. You have full creative liscense with this one.
2) Write something inspired by my poetry. Do not copy it; just be inspired. If you choose this option, kindly put the poem(s) you were inspired by in your author's notes box.
3) Be inspired by my favorite band, Nightwish. Again, don't copy anything.
4) Pen for me something about the afterlife or death.
5) Be inspired by Bizenghast!
6) Write about something that is synonomous with me. Similar to the first option, only different. Do NOT write about me, but write about the thing that reminds you of me, or the thing I remind you of, or whatever. You get it.
8) Use allusions to The Phantom of the Opera. Do NOT write about it, but merely make a reference.
9) Incorporate roses into your entry somehow. It could be a simile or metaphor, but try to make them a big part of the entry!
10) Write about SNOW CONES. (I needed a tenth option.)
That's it. =3 Oh, and have fun with it!

August 11 UPDATE - Due to lack of entries, the contest will extended until August 25th, which is as long as it can go. I hope those who missed the deadline can show me what they've got and enter!

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on August 26, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 250, Bronze: 200, Honorable mention: 2 people
- Final notes: Oh, wow. You know, this is probably the hardest contest I ever have had to judge. It was very difficult to pick the winners, especially the bronze, silver, and gold winners. How can one pick a single poem from equally talented poets? Whereas some of you dazzled me with a different perspective on one thing, others made me feel. Long story short, excellent work, everyone!
