I have always thought of the universe as mysterious and fascinating. I love all aspects of it. The most recent pictures we have gotten back are thrilling to me. SO...
PLEASE WRITE A UNIQUE POEM ABOUT:
1. The universe as a whole
2. Any aspect(s) of the universe other than
Earth (and what is on it.)
RULES:
1. No humorous poetry
2. No profanity or sexual content
3. Be thoughtful and creative
4. 40 lines or less
5. correct spelling
6. correct grammar
7. Any form is acceptable
CAUTIONARY NOTES:
*If I do not get at least TWELVE legitimate
entries, I will extend the contest until I do.
*Failure to comply with the rules will result
in failure to receive a prize, and in the case
of rule #2 will also be erased.
*Poetry that slams any person or group will
be erased from the contest. This is not that
kind of contest.
I love poetry that is unique, introspective, surreal, knowledgeable, beautifully descriptive, ethereal, interesting and creative.
My least favorite is humor, probably because I am weak in that area myself!
I am excited about this contest and cannot wait to see
what you all come up with. Thanks for entering!
~ Joyce
PS. I will be rereading ALL the poems right before I judge and post the winners. THAT is when I will decide.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on August 10, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 800, Silver: 500, Bronze: 300, Honorable mention: 4 people
- Final notes: I have to say that I had one difficult time ordering these finalists. I switched a couple around and around. I took poems out and put them back in. Phew!
The things that drew me to the winners were form, flow, creativity and how well I could see the universe as inspiration for each idea.
I also gave points for obvious knowledge of the universe.
I am sorry that all of you couldn't get something for your efforts. I thought all of the poems were delightful reads. Two of the poems that didn't win anything were at one time in the running tonight. THAT'S how hard judging was for me.
Thank you all for giving me such great poems about one of my favorite subjects. I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to read them and I recommend that everyone read all of the entries.
When you do, you will see what I said to each and that might give you more incite as to how I ordered them.

Wrong way down a wormhole...
Walking along the other day,
a thought came to me,
as I heard a man say..
If time and space, are relative things,
and held together, by quantum strings,
