What i want here is for the poet to expose themselves (not literally!) in poetry, for whatever the reason but i want raw, inciteful, blank staring stick to your ribs style poetry.
Don't care how long it is
FREE VERSE, you can rhyme but it better be damn brilliant for it is not a style I like (make me change my mind)
WON'T tolerate dirty pretty (it's poetry not finger painting class)
abstract
modernism
contemporary
erotic or not
whatever cracks your rib and shatters mine will do just fine. Not less than 10 lines
Listen, whatever it is you try
to do with your life, nothing will ever dazzle you
like the dreams of your body,
its spirit
longing to fly while the dead-weight bones
toss their dark mane and hurry
back into the fields of glittering fire
where everything,
even the great whale,
throbs with song.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on August 6, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 1000
- Final notes: I closed this 8 mins early because I have to go out and wanted to do it so as not to keep anyone waiting! My top three were amazing and simply blew me away, the rest of my finalists are so close it was really nit picking as to what order they finished. The Gold is well worth reading, she cracked every rib bone and then some. Well done to all of you.

Love those Mary Oliver lines you've selected.
I'll leave you with some more:
"Look! and then we will be like the pale cool stones, that last almost forever." (from Hummingbird Pauses at the Trumpet Vine) One of my favorite poets, such an exponent for nature and using it to point out how we should live, noticing and finding passion.

Damn! I have a few PWs that I think you would like... My muse is a little rusty, but I'll see if I can get the blood flowing again!

Thank you, you freakin' fabulous poet you!
I'm beyond delighted and sincerely honored by your gracious gesture. It was a delight to pen for your contest and I am over the moon that you enjoyed my small offering. Thank you so much, gorgeous.
Congrats to all the other winners, especially my beloved Rowan!

You are so welcome, your piece just made me lose myself inside it and I love poetry that does that..Rowan I adore too and it was close, I wish I could give you both the Gold, just know I adore both of you

Althought you didn't hear it from me, I thought hers was definitely gonna win gold there for sure!

But she took the gold in the last contest we were in, so I'm not gonna give it back so she can just deal!

PS. She knows I adore her just as much as I adore you...
