I-like-rhymes but I am open to good free verse!
I am holding this contest as I won Gold in a pay-it-forward contest by Karl Weiss - Topaz http://allpoetry.com/contest/2410025
The challenge is:
Take any old poet’s poem posted in: www.oldpoetry.com and write your own poem as a sequel or update to it.
Post the poem you used to write your poem in your author’s notes, giving credit to the original author and also include a link for it. Be sure to put your username in those notes as well so I’ll know who to IM for votes. (see below)
Please use plain backgrounds so I can appreciate your poems.
This is a must vote contest! This encourages participation and opens up new avenues for poets to appreciate the work of fellow poets on AP.
DO NOT ENTER UNLESS YOU ARE PREPARED TO FOLLOW THE RULES:

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on July 28, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 1000, Silver: 500, Bronze: 250, Honorable mention: 3 people
- Final notes: Final Notes:
The points which led to final judging are as follows:
leo2: “Those Monthly Blues” 23 total Congratulations!
Malmadre: “A Note to Edgar” 9 points
Rose of Ireland: “Actuality’s Howl” 8 points
Bad Bill: “The Duchess Replies” 6 points
breedluv: “The Load” 5 points
I would like to share the following thoughts about my role in holding this my 2nd contest on AP.
I discovered how important it is to read the rules and comply with all the instructions by the contest holder. I can now appreciate what the judges of other contests must go through in order to hold “a fair contest” and the time that is required to do so. Anyone who holds fairs contests knows how important this task is! I thank all of those that have afforded me my previous trophies and points.
I also appreciate all the poets in this contest who not only followed my rules but who spent their time reading and submitting their votes. Thank you so much!
See you around, joy

Good morning, Joy:
I'm wondering if you've sent the message out yet to read and comment on these entries? If so, I missed your note. Because this contest is now closed for judging, am I to assume we're to begin casting our votes? Please advise. I like to abide by the rules. Thanks a bunch for hosting this fun contest. Good luck to all - and may the best poem win!!!
Peace, Cyn

ON BEHALF OF MR. GINSBERG:
THANK YOU ONE AND ALL FOR YOUR WINNING VOTES!!!

Thank you, Poets, for voting for US to receive the bronze trophy with my sequel, 'Actuality's Howl' to Allen Ginsberg's famous poem, 'Howl.' I am honored. I'm sure Mr. Ginsberg would be proud, as well. It's good to know his words live on... Thanks again, I really do appreciate this.
Take care,
Cyn, aka Rose of Ireland

Thanks Joy, When I enter a contest, win or lose, all I can ask is to be judged fairly. In this case I'm honored and humbled and thankful for you doing just that.
Sincerely,
Leo Long
