Bring on the evil dead
I want the aspiring Poe's, Lovecraft's and King's to get their skeletal hands busy on the keyboard and create nightmarish visions.
I want you to become (first person)
the vampires...
the werewolves....
the mythical monsters
of legend and literature
Frankenstein (Mary Shelly's version)
Jack the Ripper
Medusa
Sphinx
Dr. Jekyl
Dorian Gray
Your Idea (other monsters)
Make them real. Make them three dimensional. Speak for them, feel for them, show their true desires.
This is just a sample. Bring what has become dead to me back to life. Cast your voodoo spell and reanimate these old stories. Don't be cliche and do take risks. I want dark and I want twisted and most of all I want it well written. So, here's my silly rules.
1. Have fun
2. Rhyme, prose and short stories are fine (no more than 1000 words).
3. If form poetry label it in the author notes with its scheme. (sonnet, ballad, ode, terza rime, e.g.)
4. Have fun kiddies. Halloween is around the corner.
500 for the goldy
300 for the silvery thingy
200 for the copper whatchamacallit

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on July 23, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 500, Silver: 300, Bronze: 200, Honorable mention: 13 people
- Final notes: Hi as a decaying member of the Dead Poet's Society. I hereby grants prizes and points to everyone for their fine work. Thank you for your creative efforts.
The goldy goes to the immortal for his 'arrogant' portrayal of Dorian Gray. It was well written prose in a style that I like. Thanks for your work.
The silvery thingy goes for the rhyming portrayal of Dorian Gray. What the first three got right was the total immersion into the monster. First person perspectives that have a little 'bite' to them.
The bronze whatchamacallit goes to
'Your the cause of this'. Something of this first person perspective was unique to me. Its emotional tone played to my inner vampire nature.
Your all winners! I thank you for entertaing the dark demented poetic soul that beats in my decaying foul heart. Until next time!
Amazira and darkness rules!
