In the last two months, the U.S. has celebrated Memorial Day and Independence Day. I would like to read your poetic thoughts on our country.
I don't want rants against the U.S. That is not patriotism. Viewing her problems and failings and finding ways to support her and work toward solving those problems and failings IS patriotism. Unabashed and unashamed love for her IS patriotism. Devotion and gratitude for her and the opportunities she gives IS patriotism. Support for her citizens, especially those in the military, IS patriotism. Patriotism is always positive, even while it is acknowledging the negatives in the system.
In that vein, feel free to express your views in any style.
I've never disqualified anyone. I don't usually feel that is necessary or appropriate, but if you submit nothing more than a rant against the U.S., I will DQ it.
Please no cursing, no funny typing and no erotica.
Prewrites are accepted, but if you've already won a gold for your poem in another contest, I'd really rather you didn't submit it again. Try something new.
I might increase the points depending on the entries I receive.

Hey, thanks for the goldie, glad to have given you something different (and semi-deep, under the surface!) I just polished it up a bit, too...
