If anyone remembers the old John Wayne movies, they will probably know the quote by Wayne's character roughly this):
“The fella’s got sand; I’ll give him that.” For those who haven’t seen them, it was a term of respect for a person who weathered the storms of life with determination and dignity.
One such person is an AP friend named Pat Powers. He has endured much but is determined to keep his head up and carry on.
..................He’s got ‘sand’................
Now, the challenge is:
1. Write a poem about someone like Pat, who you admire and respect.
2. Keep it reasonably short, say 15 to 35 lines.
3. Nothing stupid, profane or graphic.
4. Most importantly: talk of loss or tragedy is fine, but the message in the end :
MUST FIT THE PROMPT
MUST BE POSITIVE (will DQ without comment)
I will happily add points up to 1500 and shinys as entries number up.
