I just won mysticstorm's contest http://allpoetry.com/contest/2412434 with this poem http://allpoetry.com/poem/4389278 and decided that I wanted to pay it forward.
There will be no pre-writes accepted for this contest as I want to see some fresh thinking in the entries submitted - so don't bother asking.
I will judge when I feel there are sufficient quality entries or any other time that I see fit.
For this contest you will do one and only one of the following 3 things (read carefully):
A]
Click on the "poetry" tab on the top of page (below allpoetry logo) and use the random poem button, from the poem that comes up you will use every 3rd word on the page (ignoring those with 2 letters or less) until you have collected 10 words (if any word occurs more than once, skip the repeat and take the next word in the pattern) OR if the poem is short enough a 10 word bank is not possible, then include the first and last word in your count.
These words will become a wordbank to work with - make sure you copy the link to the poem that was selected in author notes.
B]
Find a copy of a local or national newspaper, open it to any page and use one of the headlines on that page as your prompt. The paper does not need to be recent.
Place the name of the paper, page number and a brief overview of the story in your author notes.
C]
Reserve a place in the contest and put "prompt me" where your poem will eventually replace it (you may include a specific category - eg: movies, quote, picture). I will then come up with an individual prompt for you to use. You will identify the prompt given to you in your author notes of completed poem.
Due to the nature of this contest there will not be a word or line limit, but please refrain from submitting an epic.

Fill your pens with ink and get to it.
