The Dark Velvet Contest

DARK VELVET

I want DARK VELVET POETRY.  What that means is work that is darkness incarnate. Work that does not include blood and gore [as I am sure we can all write about that]. I want evil and horror, that plays on the mind...plays on MY mind, long after I have finished reading it.

Let the image above inspire you.  You don't have to use that image, but rather, use it to help bring forth the depths of the pit from you [hehehe] {Credit it to Google Images, if you use it specifically].

The points are big for this, my contest, because I am looking for the best that you wonderful dark writers out there can give me. Therefore GRAMMAR IS A MUST!!  Check it before submitting it.  You don't check...I will read but, the errors will be noted, and you simply won't be considered in the top three, in the competition.

This is my first contest, so I am limiting this to TEN ENTRIES. I WILL NOT BE MOVED ON THIS, AS MY TIME IS SHORT!

But, I will read all ten entries, and make a judgement on what I consider to be the best DARK, PSYCHOLOGICAL PIECE in the competition. I will take my time in making a decision as to what I CONSIDER the best three, so, bare with me. I think that is fair, seeing as you have took your time to enter. Also, names shall remain anonymous,[ for obvious reasons, not wishing to show unfair favoritism to anyone].

Let your imaginations...and your dark side flow...

GET WRITING, THE PRIZES ARE WAITING!

DARK VELVET IS WITHIN YOUR HANDS

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on July 3, 2008
  • Rewards: Gold: 1500, Silver: 500, Bronze: 150
  • Final notes:
Ok the judging is done. You have all done fantastically well with this. Your pieces were above and beyond what I was expecting. I have to say though, that the winner took my breath away, and made the hairs on my arms stand up. Congratulations for that.

The second placed piece, was creepy in the extreme. It seeped into my mind, and I could not get that image out of my head.

As did the third-placed piece, again, very very dark indeed.

Empty Eyes and Spiritual slaughterhouse were amazing pieces of dark-writing that I enjoyed very much indeed. But I feel that the top three, especially the winner, did it for me. Thanks for EVERYONE though, in entering this competition. YOU ARE ALL WINNERS IN MY EYES.

    DARK
    WISHES
    WAYNE LEON

Hey Wayne. Is it more poetry or can we enter a story like what you write?

This is going to be a great contest! I will browse and read the entrees for sure, but I think I will sit this one out, and leave it to the pros! Good luck with this, my brother, and have a great weekend.

    Wowie!

    What an awesome pic indeed! I don't know if I can amaze you, but I'll certainly try. Dark isn't really my style, but that image is just burnt into my mind! So maybe I really am a dark writer;

But we both might find out shortly...
