This is the first official round. I am laying down the rules right now. I post them up with each round along with everything else you need to know.
I am giving each person one chance to pass. You can use this pass on any round except the last one. So, if you think that you can't quite thing of anything to write or won't be able to make this round, message me and use your pass. You will automatically make it through to the next round. Use it wisely.
I will be keeping a column with all of this information, the scoring, placements, etc. Once I have that set up I will post the link to it at the top of this contest page and I will send it out through a contest note as well.
Standard Rules:
1. No stick caps
2. No dirty pretty (interesting formatting is fine but a/n/y O.F. T~h~I~s and I will die...)
3. No erotica
4. No so called emo poetry
5. Avoid cliches!!!!
6. Author's name and short explanation of poem in author's notes.
So now that you know the basics, here's what this round is going to be.
This round is musical inspiration. I don't mean base your poem on a song. I mean write with musical terms.
1. Crescendo
2. Diminuendo/Decrescendo
3. Forte
4. Overture
5. Notes
6. Vibrato
7. Bass
8. Melody
9. Harmony
10. Vibration
Or anything else you can think of. I just listed a few. I will be looking for at least ten musical words in your poem. Please list them in your author's notes. The more you use the better. However, I will also be looking for your poem to have almost a musical quality to it. Let it flow almost like a song, but write me a poem.
OR
Write a song. Give me a chorus and song-like qualities. This is a little bit easier than the other one you you will need to really WOW me. Good luck.

- Contest was judged on September 7, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 200, Bronze: 100, Honorable mention: 2 people
- Final notes: Everyone made it through. That's because I had so many people drop out or not enter.
Some people forgot to put their name in their author's notes for I had to go digging to find out who was who. Please don't make me do that again. Next time I might not.
Anyway, ranting over. You guys gave me some great entries. To see how you stack up against the other contestants see where you are placed on the finalist list. Don't feel insulted though. They were all good entries.
I'll be sending the link to the second round through a private IM once it is set up. I'll see you all there.
