I am
I am...
I wonder if I am going to get a horse.
I hear the neigh of the horse in the
stable.
I see the horses beautiful brown eyes.
I want a horse to ride in the deep
woods.
I am a horseback rider.
I pretend I am on a horse in the field.
I feel each hair on its body.
I touch its mane and tail when I am
riding.
I worry if my horse gets sick.
I cry that it might die.
I am a horseback rider.
I understand that it has to go away.
I dream that it is in heaven.
I try to get over the death.
I see it in the clouds.
I am a horseback rider.

I'll be thinking about horses... I grew up with them so it's not hard... Did you ever read this one? http://www.poets.org/viewmedia.php/prmMID/16944

The days the wild mustangs once ran free
    are coming to an end this century;
no more will horses be allowed to roam
out west across their threatened prairie home.
There isn't anyone alive who knew
the glory days with mustangs in plain view.
Yes, once they mingled, numbering greatly,
and tossed their manes and tails as carelessly
as we, as man, encroached upon their range
to graze our sheep and cattle; is it strange
to build our city scapes with no regard
for how we pressure other species hard?

So they want to put some of them down ... now do they. How sad how very sad.
