Your strength!

RIGHT.
^.^
Hello all, thanks for stopping by. Hope you will enjoy this.
This is my contest for winning gold in a previous PIF.

This contest is basically you telling me what gives you strength when life bums you out. What keeps you going? What picks you up when you've fallen? What helps you deal with life's grievances?

Traumas and setbacks knock us down, make us re-evaluate who we are, make us sad, get us into a rut. What brings you out of that?

It can be any grief, small or large. Maybe it's your deadend job, a bully, a loss of someone close whether through death or a breakup etc, or maybe you're dealing with an illness yourself. Maybe you've suffered some kind of abuse or witnessed something awful. Maybe you have to look after other people all the time and never find time to look after yourself. Maybe you have financial troubles or are in a constant terror of some kind of threat to you and your loved ones.
How do you cope?

Is it you, yourself? Some kind of inner strength? Perhaps you throw yourself into a hobby and block out the pain by being industrious. Maybe your friends and family help you out. Maybe you turn to spiritualism or/and religion. Maybe time heals your wounds.

Write me a poem about it. Show your strengths.
WHAT GIVES YOU THE DRIVE TO CARRY ON?

Marie Antoinette said 'Tribulation first makes you realize who you are.' I know that was true of me when I first realised how harsh life could be.

Give me your all. Make it heartfelt
Everyone has to overcome something. Everyone has different methods.

Not many rules, just your basic:

1. No bashing other's poetry. Ever.
2. Watch your spelling and grammar. I'm not stupidly strict but if you're not sure of a word or sentence then check it out before you put in it - there's no excuse for being lazy XD

Thats it, really.
I don't mind how long or short it is so long as the message is conveyed.
I like both freeverse and rhyme.
I like all forms...Except for that dirty pretty stuff. I just don't get it

I will be commenting on each entry. I won't be giving applause yet because it might show which way I'm leaning before I judge. Applause comes later!

Gold - 400
Silver - 300
Bronze - 200
2 HM's

ENJOY.
I think I've made it pretty clear what I want, but if you have any questions feel free to ask!

  • Final notes:
Great contest, everyone I really felt your words. There were some I liked more than others but I can say sincerely that I enjoyed the strength you've all gathered in your poems and the strength I got from reading them.
First place to Our Promise, it's very, very beautiful and touching. I felt the soft energy in it.
Second to Special Reserve, for being personal, heartfelt, and very relatable.
Third to My Wrath, for the especial strength and pride I saw in it. It reminded me to keep my head up.

Honourable mentions to Untitled, for the brilliant word usage and a lovely finish, and to Kage-Sauma for the twist of love and the strength that can come from strange places.

Great job to everyone, liked them all I actually wanted to give more Honorable Mentions

    Hope you enjoyed!
