Okay peoples...
I was so amazed by the beautiful work entered in my last "color contest," I decided to do another!
Okay...so I'm a glutton for punishment...
Here's what I want this time:
Write me a symphony in white.
That is to say; I want you to pen me something that "sings" inspired by the color white.
Yes, I know it's not really a color.
How does it make you feel? What do you see in the color? How does it speak to you? PLEASE don't answer these questions, use them to stimulate your own thought process!!!
Whatever you do; Don't describe "white," or calla lilies to me (unless metaphorical). I still have those cyber fleas for your bed, and cyber ants for your shower!!!
Use your imagination!!!
Those of you who have entered my previous contests know I LOVE when someone steps out of the box with their pen, and presents me with something fresh and original. I love good use of metaphor and imagery, as well. I can hardly wait to see what this inspires from your talented pens!
AVOID THE CLICHE!
♥ LEFT ALIGN PLEASE
♥ LEFT ALIGN PLEASE (just in case you missed it the first time).
♥ Please have the courtesy NOT to put your entry in numerous contests. If your not writing for this one, you won't place in this one!
♥ 30 line limit. Have mercy on my eyes
♥ Sensual is encouraged, erotic is not.
♥ Please; no dark writes. I have too many shadows in my life as it is. Thanks.
♥ Make good use of your language (both figurative and literal), grammar, imagery, feelings, punctuation (if you use it), etc...
♥ Watch the "filler words." And, since someone already caught one of MY typos...LOL!...watch the spelling, too!
♥ NO chat-speak/sticky caps. We're adults here, right?
♥ Plain backgrounds; easy to read fonts
♥ Metaphors are your friend!!!
♥ Feel free to use photo. Credit the artist on whatever picture/photo you may use
♥ Being the first to enter will NOT get you points! If it's rushed - it shows! Take your time!!! Refine your work. Roll it around in your mind a while. Polish it until it shines!
♥ Metaphors are your friend!
Point made???
....and last but certainly NOT least;
HAVE FUN!
So;
What are you waiting for
Put that pen to work!!
Sing to me in White!

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on July 13
- Rewards: Gold: 350, Silver: 150, Bronze: 100, Honorable mention: 4 people
- Final notes: WOW!
This one was hard to judge!!!
I never expected such a wide range of absolutely beautiful poetry from the color white! I tried to chose the most difficult "color" I could think of, and STILL I got so many outstanding entries. What stunning poets you ALL are!
I had to get extremely nit-picky to come to any kind of list of finalists. There were so many extraordinary poems...so many extraordinary poets!!
I thank each and every one of you from the depths of my heart. I so enjoyed reading all your stellar work. At a very dark time in my life, you all brought in so much light to me! I am indebted.
Again; Thanks to ALL of you! Every poem was a winner in my eyes.
CONGRATS to the winners!!
Love & Light to all of you!

You've done it again... another wonderful contest idea. I loved writing for the last one and will certainly try to do something for this one, too.
By the way... I remember learning in elememtary school (yep, I can still remember some things from that far back)... White is all colors combined, black is all color removed.

Lovely contest, Mary! You know that calla lilies are my favourite flower (the name "calla" means "beautiful") and calla lilies were originally exported from South Africa to the rest of the world...so it's really "our" flower
.
And of course I love white - and music. Hope my muse thinks so too as I haven't been very poetic lately - I'm so extremely busy at work - but I'll try.
's to you, my friend

Callas are one of my all time favorites, as well, dear one.
They reflect such a serene purity.
I so hope to see something from your talented pen, Sweet Lady.
Your words always provide a virtual feast for the eyes, heart, and soul.
