16s and under Swings and Roundabouts

This contest is for poets age 16 and younger.
Old people please go to bed!

Please write a poem in any form about "Swings and Roundabouts"; either actual swings or roundabouts or use it metaphorically. It can be about good or it can be about bad.

A Roundabout is like a merry-go-round that you push. It's found in playgrounds.

This contest is the result of a PIF but running your own contest with the winnings is strictly optional.

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on July 3
  • Rewards: Gold: 600, Silver: 250, Bronze: 150, Honorable mention: 4 people
  • Final notes:
First of all Amera and I would like to thank every entrant for making this contest a joy to judge, there were very many possible winners but we both agreed on the final order.
The winner made me laugh out loud, second was a delightfully different take on the prompt. Third place was a very sophisticated poem.
We have awarded HMs to every entrant because all the poems are worth at least that.
Amera has commented on all entrants already I shall do so after closing the contest.

  • darn I am 17. old person leaving
  • I'm too old to enter anyway .. but I'm curious .. what the heck is a "roundabout"? I'm thinking it must be cultural misinterpretation, but I'm pretty sure we never played on "roundabouts" when I was little.

      merry-go-round?
Not a powered one just the sort you sit of in a playground and scoot round faster and faster until at least one child is sick

being an old person, can't I just stay up long enough to enjoy your entries? I promise I won't whine about being tired in the morning.
