Boredom has struck me. Time for an option contest!
Here's the dreaded rules:
1) I'm only allowing one write per person, so choose your option carefully.
2) Please, no combining options.
3) I'm allowing pre-writes, but ONLY if they fit an option PERFECTLY. And I'll be the judge of that.
4) Put your option number and your suboption number in your author's note or I'll have to DQ you.
5) I prefer rhyme to free verse, but if you're excellent at it you do have a great chance of winning.
6) No StIcKy CaPs or CAPS LOCK please.
7) Feel free to reserve a spot, but if you do PLEASE come back.
8) Have fun! That's what option contests are supposed to be!
Also, since I'm going to take the time to comment all of your poems, I'd very much appreciate if you took the time to read and comment one of mine. It's not a rule, just a request.
Now for the fun part!
1. Choose a song lyric and be inspired by it!
1) “Let me tell you more, tell you more about the lies I lead.” – Atreyu, “Slow Burn”
2) “Never fall asleep – you won’t wake up.” – Escape the Fate, “My Apocalypse”
3) “I see the blood all over your hands. Does it make you feel more like a man?” – Saliva, “Always”
4) “I have to be with you to live, to breathe, you’re taking over me.” – Evanescence, “Taking Over Me”
5) “What I really meant to say is I’m sorry for the way I am.” – Crossfade, “Cold”
6) “Kiss me softly – it could be deadly.” – A Kiss Could Be Deadly, “Just Another Mystery”
7) “Can’t find my way home but it’s through you and I know what I’d do just to get back in your arms.” – My Chemical Romance, “My Way Home Is Through You”
8) “It feels so much like falling, dying while I wait to die.” – Flyleaf, “Much Like Falling”
9) “Maybe I’m the one, maybe I’m the one who is the schizophrenic psycho.” – Puddle of Mudd, “Psycho”
10) “We began with concluding remarks.” – Emery, “Studying Politics”
2. Use one of the following titles as the title for your poem.
1) A Shot of Tequila
2) Lovelorn Lovers
3) You Dare to Ask for Forgiveness
4) She Who Steals Their Hearts
5) Kiss Me Quicker
6) Silence is Everything
7) No Such Thing
8) I’ll Stick with Writing Lies
9) Like Consuming a Maiden’s Heart
10) Midnight Sun
3. Pick one of the word banks and use at least six of the words within your poem.
1) garden, plight, humanity, rust, weep, scandalous, apathy, suicide, ensnare, dedicate
2) enamored, bliss, thousand, beguile, reverence, utmost, phantasm, whim, sparkling, linger
3) quench, churn, fool, drown, veil, mania, shape, erase, neat, torrid
4. Write me a poem about multiple personalities. You can make it as intense as you want, just make it good.
5. Write me a love poem. The catch is, you have to incorporate some foreign word or phrase related to love in your poem. It could be as simple as "te amo" or "cherie." Not too hard, right?
6. Write me some kind of form poetry. Sonnet, triolet, villanelle, terzanelle, terza rima...You've got a lot of options here, so be sure to put which form you choose in your author's note.
7. Let the picture above inspire you!
I look forward to reading what you can give me!

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on June 20, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 400, Silver: 200, Bronze: 100, Honorable mention: 1 people
- Final notes: Well I really enjoyed judging this contest. All the entries were excellent, so good that almost HALF made it into the finalists list. I hope you eighteen entrants enjoyed this as much as me.
I was a little disappointed to get so many prewrites. Not to say they're not fantastic, just I probably won't do that in my next contest.
Keep writing, and congratulations to the winners!

If we choose the word bank are we required to use the words as they are or can we use different forms of them?
