Winklings and Allpoetry Friends. #99 Fantasy Worlds

This contest is being run by Lady Altheia.  Winklings # 99.

1) Fantasy contest.

2) Write more than 12 lines (no upper limit)on a fantasy world of your own creation. Make it seem real! Make it seem genuine within its own terms.

3)  You may use any genre from simple lyric, to sonnet to narrative poem, etc.

4) This is an ANONYMOUSLY JUDGED CONTEST. After commetaries but before judgement, do not communicate with the judges. A simple "thank you" reveals your ID. Do not reply!

5) One poem per poet.

6) The judging will be done by Lady Altheia in consultation with Pam &/or Ron.

7) If 15 people have not entered by the closing date, the contest will be re-opened.

8)  Standards: The usual Winkling Criteria of decency of language and graphics apply.

9) Silver, Bronze, Hms will probably be given. It depends on our judgement of quality.

10) Good luck.

Players - absolute pure poetry. This title is so perfect and the story plays it perfectly. Imagery that goes beyond the norm. Superb work.

The Keep - an out of the box look at what fantasy can do to keep hope and dreams alive. An amazingly different and unique take on the prompt. Not your standard fare - this is real life fantasy. Exceptional work.

Fairyland - Wonderfully written Villanelle. The Fantasy being dreams and dreamland.

Gladly Paying Tuesday - excellent write. Totally out of the box in this quilted word woven piece. Each time I read this I found another gem of witty wisdom. Excellent work.

Dragon Vision - wonderful cascading Triolets. Maintains consistency throughout without becoming redundant. Truly captivating.

The Voyage - A lovely sonnet. I felt the syllable stresses are a bit off and hamper the flow a little but with some polish this can really be terrific. The tale is so beautiful, filled with love and care. A good piece.

portals - There is a lot of interesting word usage in areas one would not expect in this piece keeping it bordering on abstract.

Forever World - Needs punctuation badly, but a very good story.

Magic and Mayhem - interesting little tale and this author had a ton of fun writing it. A little tweaking of meter and syllable count would smooth this into a grand verse. Nice work.

Daffodil Garden.. - nice rhyme in this. I loved the idea of a daffodil land. Mis-use of the word too.

Second Chance - a good retelling of an age old theme. Some grammatical/typo issues and some smoothing needed but a good piece."

I, personally, thank Pamela and Serena very much. We agreed 100% on first place; 100% on
Silver. With Bronze, the earner of that trophy received enough support for 87% of the vote for Bronze. Close behind is "Gladly Playing Tuesday" received 121% for Honorable Mention, which meant that this poem was rated by someone more highly. Percentages, as an outcome of judges' desires, did not even reach 40 % for other poems.

However, that does not mean we did not like them but preferred the top four most.

    Congratulations for GOLD to "PLAYERS".

Congratulations for SILVER to "THE KEEP".

    Congratulations for BRONZE to "FAIRYLAND".

Congratulations for HM to "GLADLY PLAYING TUESDAY".

I urge those with time to read the above poems and all in the anthology of this contest if possible.

Too bad you're not taking prewrites ...

as I don't really feel up to writing much just now.

    Wow! What a change!

We had three men in the top four, I see. And a lady with a newborn baby as the only woman.
This observation means little: it's the poetry that counts! Congratulations to everyone!!!
