Euthanization

Well, here's what's going on. My 17-year old cat who I've had since birth is really sick. She's not eating, and she can't walk right. Because of this, we've decided it may be time to euthanize her.

For this contest, I want poems about how you would feel if you had to make the decision for one of your pets. I also want poetry about how you felt afterwards, or poetry about the death of a pet. This is the hardest thing I think I've ever had to do, and I don't really know how I can put how I feel into words.

The only rule is that I don't want happy poetry. Don't try to cheer me up. Any happy poetry will be removed from the contest. You may enter more than once. I will comment on all entries. Thanks for entering, and good luck!

  • Final notes:
Wow, I got a lot of emotional entries. Judging this contest was very hard. If I could, I would've given everyone an award. Thank you all for your amazing entries. We just put my cat, Pippy, to sleep on Thursday, so judging this was especially hard. Thank you again.

I am so sorry about your cat! My boyfriend's cat died, he had had her all his life, and he was so upset he missed school for three days. Some kids at school scoffed at this, but if you have had a pet your whole life it hurts a LOT if it pases away. Anyways, I feel for you.
