I'm not asking for much. No blood, no sweat, no tears. I don't want a sacrificial lamb [but candy is fine. Leave donations in the funny top hat by the funny door that no one uses. Thanks!].
All I want is a poem.
No, not just ANY poem.
Of course, I want good poems. I want beautiful poems. I want mesmerizing poems!
Now, I want you [whoever is entering this contest (which should be EVERYONE
.
.)] to write me a poem that takes place over a moment. Just a few seconds. But I don't want just a few lines. Fifteen at least, thirty at most [I don't want to be reading all day
.]. I want a poem with a lot of description, one that delves deep into the emotions, the movements, the thoughts, the everything about what they're writing about. I like adjectives and pretty phrases
.
An Example of what I mean by a moment and feelings that go with it. Someone watching the love of their life turn away from them, about to leave forever. Describe the raise of their hand, the tears they're trying to hide, the emotions that are tempted to fall out of them but are being held back. Describe how shaky their voice is as they say goodbye, wanting to exclaim their love and being too afraid to. The scene shouldn't take more than a minute to happen
. Something like that, ok?
Now, because I don't want to break anyone's heart here, I must put up some rules
.
Purple. One entry per person. I don't care if you have another personality or not, your physical/internetical body may only enter ONCE! Got it cheaters?
Orange. I really don't want anything rude/explicit/erotic to be described in depth
. A tender love scene, I'll take, it just has to be in very good taste!
Violet. In your author's note could you put down five words that are beautiful and easy to use? I have a writer's block and word banks always help
. You don't have to do this, but it'd be nice if you did
.
Crimson. [This one's mandatory] write in your author notes 'I did not read the rules'.
Indigo. Rule Crimson is a liar, do not follow it. [Write the name of your favorite color in your author's notes. Or risk your pretty work being disqualified from my pretty contest. I'm not writing these rules for my health!
Only for my entertainment...]
White. Use lots of description and feeling! This isn't a quickie contest, I want you to take time and put some amount of thought into the poem.
Black. Poems with nice meanings really make me happy. Just thought y'all might like to know
.
Clear. Enter a prewritten poem if you feel that it fits! I don't mind!
Raspberry Sherbet. Have fun! Or else
.

Everyone who enters gets a cooooookie

That is all!

I LOVE ALL YOU STINKY PEOPLE!
Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on June 16, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 200, Bronze: 100, Honorable mention: 3 people
- Final notes: I didn't realize how many wonderful moments poets were capable of describing so vividly. I didn't realize judging would be so hard either I should've told y'all not to put such good poetry in this contest . But noooo... anyways, I did base my judging on poetry that had a single moment in it that I could see, seemed like they were worked hard on, and hard a lot of detail. I wish I could give everyone gold =[. But I can't and I had to choose which poems I liked best according to the contest ^-^. Great job stinky people!
